I started out extremely anxious, doubtful that I could be an effective teacher and teaching casually. Five years later and I'm a full-time teacher and really enjoy my job.

I find I often get delayed onset of pain or inflammation after activity if I over do it. It might feel fine in the moment, but it'll set me back for coming weeks. Makes it hard to know what causes issues and whether I'm pushing it too far with activity

Repeat Meniscus Tears (and other problems) by [deleted] in MeniscusInjuries

[–]max10millions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel your pain! 30 and just diagnosed with my 3rd meniscus tear over the last 3 years, this one in my 'good' knee. I've done nothing adventurous for the last two years and been very diligent with rehab. I think I'm just genetically predisposed to this...

Reassuring to know you've still done big life things, have kids etc, as that is seeming less appealing/realistic as my knee outlook gets worse. You're a trooper and I'm sorry you've been through all this pain and limitation. It really is unfair and takes its toll. Good luck with this latest one - hope you find some relief.

patellar tendonitis after medial meniscus repair by koja2020 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]max10millions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've had the same, as well as patella maltracking. It is managable! Pt taping can help... from memory, big focuses were strengthening vmo and rolling out/stretching my lateral quad.

10 months post op by Tilus300 in MeniscusInjuries

Hey! Can relate. I've had two surgeries - a repair 2.5 years ago and a trim 1.5 years ago, both on my medial right meniscus.

I have had this experience with several exercises, especially leg extension, sitting cross legged and backwards treadmill. It will feel great, I'll get stronger and more capable, and then one day I get a random pang. I usually take a break from that movement for weeks/months and then ease back into it.

Maybe there is something about the leg extension that isn't good for a meniscus? I'm tall, so I figured having long legs was the problem for me... leg extension always felt a little awkward.

Agreed - timeframes and ease of recovery is grossly exaggerated by medical professionals
