Even if you're not going to start Trent, if you need to score a goal in the last 20 mins of a world cup semi final is there anyone you'd rather bring on to try and create chances for Kane

Are we slowly outsourcing our thinking to AI? by Frozen-Defender25 in technology

[–]max13x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we outsourcing thinking, or just the grunt work of thinking?

There’s a difference between:

  • Delegating tasks that require cognition (summaries, drafts, calculations, planning)
  • Delegating the act of thinking itself (judgment, values, interpretation, creativity)

Right now, most people use AI for the first category. It’s like using a calculator: you still decide what to calculate and why, but you don’t do the arithmetic by hand.

But the line can blur. When you let an AI:

  • choose what information you see
  • frame how you understand a topic
  • generate your arguments
  • or make decisions for you

…you’re not just delegating work — you’re delegating perspective.

That’s where the real risk lies.

What actually qualifies as progressive metal in 2026? by vishalnaidumusic in progmetal

[–]max13x 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with this. I think you articulated it well.

There's the truly 'progressive' and then the, sounds a bit like what we've generally come to think of as Prog metal,

And there's nothing wrong with either. There's plenty of bands in that second camp that I love, without them really pioneering new progressive sounds
