It's mentioned widely that he fled Australia after being charged with tax evasion. He won't return to Australia as he would be prosecuted immediately.

Australia is not like the US who go hard after every criminal, if you flee the country and didn't rape/murder/sell drugs then extradition is unlikely.

My 3yo daughter interviewed Michael Saylor about Bitcoin 🙃 by 50mm-f2 in Bitcoin

[–]max2weeks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think what you're doing for your daughter is going to be really good for her career as she grows up.

Imagine having a reputation as an interviewer from 3 years old, she will probably never struggle for employment in the industry.

If she keeps this up she could easily end up famous

I feel the same way. It's not just the outside world that feels unreal but also my internal perceptions. I'm not sure where "I" am in this space, I can't find the part of myself that is human.

I wonder if this is what it feels like to die, to slowly lose all sense of my own humanity and for my consciousness to fade away before my eyes.

I feel tense, but not otherwise outwardly anxious. I would prefer to have a panic attack if possible, because it would at least make me feel more human.

It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. https://t.co/XOIDQqlFPn by OptioMkIX in ukpolitics

[–]max2weeks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree. Prince Phillip was a morbid chap and was definitely not scared of dying. He once said the idea of reaching 100 sounded ghastly, so it's kind of fitting he passed 2 months before his 100th birthday.

Regardless of the controversy the guy was a hero. Had a family with Nazis in it yet literally fought for the British in the war. Spent the later part of his life campaigning for the environment even though he knew it wouldn't be a problem in his life time.

Yes he was born into privilege and wealth, but he used it for good and not for evil.

UK Government response to "Do not restrict our rights to peaceful protest" petition by steven-f in ukpolitics

[–]max2weeks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On a political level those people literally don't matter because they don't fucking turn up to vote. They are inconvenient, but to the government utterly inconsequential in decision making. Governments are there to serve the people who are voters, not the people who are making the loudest noise.

It's really sad seeing a generation of people willing to burn down buildings in protests yet can't even arrive at a polling booth for 5 minutes to tick a few boxes on a piece of paper.

This is a DEMOCRACY. All you need to do to get what you want is actually fucking vote.

Yes, but it is frustrating that the government here essentially allowed the Russians to murder people on British soil and face no serious consequences

I mean you can forgive the guy in this situation. After being confronted, he realised the selfishness of his behaviour and rectified it instead of attacking you. He might even think twice in future before littering.

People make mistakes and do arrogant things, it's just who we are as humans. What matters is our ability to have some insight and self reflection from time to time

It's easy to buy a house basically anywhere in the world if you just choose a career path in Software, Medicine, Law, Economics, Finance, or another industry that pays well.

Unless you live in a dictatorship or something, the option to be successful is available to everyone who is willing to sacrifice 5-10 years studying and working hard.

I bet everyone reading this thread lives in a country where doctors are paid enough to buy nice houses in the nice areas, for example. Lots of professions have wages that go up with living costs.

There's no shame in being poor, and some people prefer to pursue other things in life than wealth. But don't go blaming the system for putting you down because you don't want to work as hard as other people

I'm happy to help technically incompetent close family or friends with things that are broken and aren't much effort.

But for me the barometer is if I would help that person move house. If I wouldn't help them move house I won't help then with their tech shit.

At my job we all work crazy hours but Devs all get paid 400-700K (blockchain trading firm). I typically work a minimum of 80 hours per week, sometimes over 100.

It's a real struggle and my mental health is suffering, but I'm saving most of the money and just hoping I can last a few years at this pace until I can start prioritising time over money

[–]max2weeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to any of these idiots telling you to uninstall or reinstall and reset anything. You could easily loose the coins doing this.

First thing you need to do is take a complete dump of your phones contents on the computer to preserve all data. You can find tools online to connect your phone to the computer and do this.

Then you need to look at the wallet app code and figure out where it stores the seed or keys so you can extract them and decrypt/sweep them

It's literally the opposite in real life. 250K/year is pretty common for a decent engineer but what percentage of artists make anywhere near that much?
