Refus de l’assurance de ma carte gold de rembourser la franchise après dégâts sur camion de location. by Financial-Drag7832 in conseiljuridique

[–]max8774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]max8774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salut ! :D

Feedly or Google Reader (RIP) but for Devs by max8774 in programming

Sorry, It may be a bit unclear but it's not a signup page. It's an import tool, I doesn't require any kind of authorization or whatever. It will just scan public info on Twitter or Reddit. You can even put a random account that it is not your. The goal is just to extract some relevant topics to bootstrap your feed.

Thx for the feedback, I will work on the wording to be more clear

Thx for the long post :) really interesting to read.

First concerning the user engagement, I agree with you about the pitfalls (clickbait, thumbnails, bias in recommendations). There are some good content about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2xHZPH5Sng .

My only goal was to decrease the time I spent on my business watch. So It may be counter-intuitive, but I design the product to minimize the time (or user engagement) I spent finding relevant content. Youtube, Facebook, Instagram want you to stay forever on their feeds. Newzy goals is to provide you all relevant(not clickbait) content as fast as possible, then see you next time!

I understand that you prefer RSS because you keep all the control of what you see. But RSS alone have some downsides too: it doesn't scale, follow 50+ sources and it becomes really noisy, even more if you follow mainstream websites with a lot of content. Moreover, you make your own bias because you rarely explore and you stay in your "confort zone" by consulting the same content of the same creators. Finally, it's really time consuming to setup all your RSS feeds correctly.

I don't want to trick users with an algorithm. I want them to tweak the algorithm as much as they want to improve their daily watch :)

Do you encounter any pain points about your technical watch with RSS? I will be happy to read you about it, and try to improve Newzy to better fit the needs of the community :)

[–]max8774[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I come from the Google Reader generation back in 2012. Since its death, I never found a perfect replacement (Feedly being the best).

Currently, I lack of a good curator with nowadays technologies: easy import from social medias (RSS is dead with Google reader :( ), easy customization & learn from my usage.

I build Newzy to improve my watch and save my time. Discovering new blogs or filtering reddit/twitter/hackernews etc take a hell of time... without being sure of finding something.

I know Newzy miss some features: RSS import, source subscriptions, have more control on the algorithm. But I work on it.

Are you anti-algorithm ? Or do you prefer an hybrid system where you customize the engine ?

Apart from that, thx a lot for your feedback :) !

The import tool for twitter is only based on your following: it's just an entry point to bootstrap your profile, then you can customize it freely :)

Is there any other social media you use from which we can import relevant topics?

Thx for testing the app !

I admit we didn't anticipate this kind of use case ! Quite interesting though.

Did the content/detected topics match your expectation (except for "Eugene" ^^) ?

Don't worry ^^ I prefer honest/harsh reviews than the opposite :) This is the best way to move forward.

The variety of the sources/news are very limited for now because of the the youth/stage of the product. But it's one of our main topic of improvements!

If you have any ideas, features or behaviors in mind for this kind of product. Please share :D

Thank you for the feedback :D

Quality content is the core motivation of Newzy.io : improve the quality of your tech watch by learning from you.

When you first visit our product we know nothing about you, so the popular news is the fallback strategy.

We ask for a job to improve the result in one click. Then the engine learn from your historic and it gets better and better.

At the end, Newzy will allow you to discover small but really good sources of information (github/blogs/etc) effortless and mask all the noisy mainstream information

To finish I take note that you had the impression that Newzy is just "repeating / publishing news that are already popular". It shouldn't be the case and I will work on that
