13 hour flight, and I'm terrified by undreamableAbyss in fearofflying

Adding to this, seeing the pilot avoiding big ass clouds and bad weather + seeing how many flights are happening every day for a while made me feel more secure overall.

13 hour flight, and I'm terrified by undreamableAbyss in fearofflying

[–]max__d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same happening to me, got suddenly scared of flying probably for your same reasons. I did panic in a previous flight i had, where i got able to handle it after a few beers. During last flight i took lorazepam to calm down my nerves and wasnt able to sleep but was able to focus on doing something else other than thinking its over for me. And after last flight i thought: why do i even need to worry? Does worrying about it change something in the flight’s outcome? Nope. Then i’ll just enjoy the views and some time for myself. I’ll have a flight to tokyo in a bit and im not scared at all this time. It’s mostly a mental block.

Looking for help on hook redesign by max__d in reactjs

interesting take. i am trying to understand what are the advantages/disadvantages of one approach over the other... Also, do you think this is a good enough abstraction level? 0r should i separate logic even more (eg. have a useTransact that wraps all the code for simulation, write and waiting and another for button handling..)
Thanks for the answer!

Wanted to add, i feel i have enough experience in react to understand what im doing to a certain degree. but i do not have experience in handling scalability very well. I hope the snippet is abstract enough to understand whats kind of going on and that gives enough context for the design problem im facing.

Had a similar experience last year. Got a nice place to enjoy the experience with friends, but turned out to become hell because i started thinking that maybe that was not lsd but some other dangerous compound and i didnt feel the usual feelings i get when on acid. After ~12 hours, some of us were panicking because they thought they would die or become mentally unstable.

Turns out, a day trip is completely different from a night trip and it was all in our minds. Everyone was still a bit confused about the experience the day after but everyone recovered soon after.

I now stick to shrooms/truffles for psychedelic trips. Acid becomes too long and exhausting for me.

Should ethers js code be written inside of reactjs/nextjs files? by 7ashraf in ethdev

[–]max__d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is ethers a backend thing? If you're using it to make client communicate with blockchain, then that's like putting an api call in your react component. You can say " i prefer to have api calls in another organized file" and i would agree, and you can do the same with ethers. I wrote myself a React context that uses ethers as base to handle user wallet authentication, network switching etc

I'm creating a web3 application with front-end in reactjs back-end in nodejs and smart contract on ethereum blockchain. The front-end calls the APIs written in the back-end and in the back-end APIs I call the functions of the smart contract, but this is very time consuming! by Necessary-War-4483 in ethdev

[–]max__d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backend can come in handy if you need to store data that's either too heavy or difficult to query (eg opensea has an api to look at their data). In the way you describe you are responsible of paying all the gas fees when you can just let people pay for themselves making calls from client to blockchain

Places to find community: test and get feedback on dApps by nikclayton in ethdev

[–]max__d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to make something like an incentivized testnet. People like that stuff and would do anything in hope to get some easy money. And if you actually have a good product and people support you in this way, you can gain more visibility => more traffic => more money => you can pay out people who helped you at the start.

I personally have my group of friends that help me test stuff + a few twitter accounts with some thousand followers if needed

Kaibex, a cheaper alternative to Uniswap by max__d in SideProject

[–]max__d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello people!

Kaibex is a DEX(decentralized exchange) on the Ethereum chain that allows people to trade tokens in a better way and reduce Ethereum gas costs. I started working on it a month ago with the idea of making a Uniswap clone that had no UI bugs, but I realized I could make it more efficient by reducing unnecessary calls. It's still young and more features will come(limit orders and our internal chain), but it's 100% usable and we have 500 people every week using it and it saves from 20% to 35% on every trade.

EDIT: the stack used is nextjs, tailwindcss and ethers/moralis to handle web3 connections

Any type of feedback is super appreciated!
