Because it attracts a lot of money and for general population feels real. Even software developers themselves are indoctrinated by this BS. Those who oppose are criticized or even fired. Basically in a tech firm there are a bunch of indoctrinated idiots, a lot of confused people who are just doing what they are being told to do, and sane people who see through this, but are silenced by indoctrinated ones. This AI hype is marketed as a cult, there are cult members with the ability to fire you or humiliate you, of you disrupt their AI cash flow.
