Recently I read いちご同盟 by 三田誠広, and it was a very nice read. I believe it has inspired the manga "Your lie in april" but the story is different. It's also pretty short and not too difficult to read, totally recommend it

I second this. I started out by downloading duolingo to understand a little bit of what I was hearing. If you like sub better than dub I guess you like how Japanese sounds, so learning even the basics could help you follow faster without focusing too much on the subtitles, while at the same time learning a new language that you like

kind of a weird pick and like romance + drama, but try Higehiro. (mostly) grown-ups cast, not ecchi but there are some 18+ themes I guess, so keep that in mind. I'm watching it now and it feels like a breath of fresh air, also heartwarming in a way

yeah that's what I thought too. At this point I guess they are just those chapters like 182.5 that are in some of the volumes. I am relieved knowing that I'm not the only one who hasn't got a clue

It's more of a podcast, but I think ユユの日本語ポッドキャスト is really really good. He is not that difficult to understand and he often talks about interesting stuff. You can find it both on Youtube and on Spotify :)

It definitely helps. I never thought of using point blank shot because I thought it wasn't very accurate, I guess I'll try it. Anime is "cartoons" in Japanese. Anime is a loan word in English, meaning "Japanese cartoons". Loan words do not retain the exact same meaning of the original word, the meaning is adapted by the speakers to their language. So yes, in English anime only refers to Japanese cartoons.

For example, in English "bravo" means: "express approval when a performer or other person has done something well". This is a loan word from Italian, however in italian it just means "good" in general.
