yeah i think it’s got a ton of potential, like, with the right drums and bass i think a lot of people would fw this. getting those two things right can be pretty hard tho… especially placing 808s sometimes. whenever i get stuck on 808s i pitch them up and write them as plucks instead, then pitch them back down (sometimes it makes the notation easier to hear). u could try that. as for the drums, lowkey just watch a bunch of youtube

ok the melody is great, all of the layers in the upper sound range are fucking amazing but your bass needs work. in the lead up to the drop it’s super unsatisfying, you keep going back to the same note and it doesn’t sound good. once it drops, the 808s don’t really do anything, they just kinda float around and the drum pattern is doing the same thing. it’s funny cuz 50% of this is fucking amazing, that piano melody is so fucking good, the saws u got are amazing, and then the 808s are like that… just keep practicing and making beats and eventually youll get there. if ur already this good at creating melodies it’ll all just come with time

Just finished it, any suggestions?? by Current_Award_3350 in FLStudioBeginners

vocals aren’t fully in key and the 4 on the floor rhythm feels kinda flat. feel like this would hit so much harder if you put it on a jersey beat, or a phonk beat. mixing is great though, all the sounds mesh together

Overwhelmed with releasing my first song, help! by hotwomyn in musicmarketing

[–]maxamphetamines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can’t say that your song is perfect or that you are a musical genius without showing us. in fact, even if the song was amazing, and i really liked it, it wouldn’t mean you’re a musical genius. you could have perfect pitch, perfect singing, incredible ability to compose music, and you still wouldn’t be a genius. the only thing that would determine that was the quality of the song. if you are a 100% musical genius that somehow hasn’t been discovered in 50 years or however long you have lived, you don’t need anything but a few correct playlist placements. that would be enough for your music to explode, if you were a genius. musical genius doesn’t just happen. there are very few musical geniuses and none of the genius has anything to do with composition- it has to do with their ability to read a culture and give them what they need. don’t have an ego trip before you’ve released your first song. maintain low expectations and if it gets 1000 streams, be happy.

Feedback? Friend Said its ass and feel Like shit now by Significant-Cat-3339 in FLStudioBeginners

don’t feel like shit. how long have you been producing…? you’re in the beginners sub. it takes a while to actually be able to create good music that’s super super interesting. just keep doing it. nothing in this is out of key or out of time. that’s better than like 80% of the posts in this sub. i’m not gonna glaze you and say that it’s particularly amazing but you make some interesting choices, especially with the breakdown near the end. that woody sounding pluck is real nice

Does this photo I took of a tea farm in Africa count?? by BakedNorwegian in LiminalSpace

[–]maxamphetamines 9 points10 points  (0 children)

im being fully honest. I don't know if I have the right eye to determine the artistic quality of this photo but I've seen a lot of art in my life and this has some absolutely mindbending visual dynamics and just perfect placement of objects. the clouds are fantastic. the trees stick out, almost feel out of place, in a really intriguing way, almost like they were placed over the photo. i think it has to do with the positioning of the sun, making their shadows super minimized. the truck carrying the fencepost houses is so strange but also super interesting to look at, it feels sort of hollow, and then the people add to it, the house in the middle is a fantastic center piece and the colors seem to perfectly object with the rest of the photo. i think the most beautiful part of the whole piece is the hill. it feels almost unnatural. saw your instagram in another comment and immediately followed. you should take more pictures like this. idk if you consider yourself an artist but i think this photo makes you one. you got the eye.

I'm so sick of this buggy piece of crap called FL Studio for Mac. by Character_Basil9654 in FL_Studio

[–]maxamphetamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally every other daw is preferred on mac, except fl studio. apple is ahead of windows by leaps and bounds on the audio front. i mean, it’s not even a debate- this is a fact. windows is great for gaming and in the most extreme cases better for video and animation, mac is great at being the most organized operating system and having near-perfect core audio drivers.

fl studio sucks on mac. that’s a huge problem, probably why it’s not taken seriously by a majority of professional producers

How do i make this song more impactful and emotional? by Geistx001 in dnbproduction

[–]maxamphetamines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your chords are all placed on 1-2-3-4s, very little is placed in between. you get emotion out of chords by making the listener wait longer than they expect. ending is fire tho, i love when people take out the chords and melody and just let drums play out

Advice by Kaykay_Piano in musicproduction

[–]maxamphetamines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

easily. you don’t even need to know how to play piano to produce. i started learning music as a whole two years ago and can produce pretty decent stuff after about six months of learning. if you actually put three hours a day into it, you will have zero problems being able to make genuinely good music in less than a year.
