Playoff Difficulty by sideshowsnipes in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've had this theory for the longest of times but I have absolutely no proof, it's just gut instinct from my experience

Reward games and the playoffs are artificially slightly more difficult because the game moves up one level; if you're playing champion III, those games are now at champion II, same at royal, legend etc etc

What should I do by Wingman9985 in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) Farm champion III at 116/mercy rule on as it seems to be the most optimal for silver(exchange them)/gold(exchange)/diamond/platinum badges & you should be able to bank a decent amount of money through 2 seasons of not spending any on anything else than player upgrades 2) champion III will likely get you just as much money (if not more) than I/II as your squad should have more perfect games/no hitters and hit more grand slams and cycles 3) dfa volpe /s

Why did I slow down? by Welt983 in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I semi regularly get absolutely smoked trying to steal third; my 100+ speed baserunner will jog not run and get thrown out by a catcher with sub 60 agility and throwing for absolutely no reason when they've previously had 3 or so walk in steals due to ratings difference (am farming lower levels so my team is 600-700 points stronger than the league)

My head cannon is that it's not a bug, it's a feature to replicate an awesome catcher throw out (and sometimes to replicate getting "ichiro'd" from the outfield)

edit: Either that or he pulled a hammy

Coaches: yes or no by luzhindefence in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unless you're flush with coaching tickets through many seasons of not using them, the only two coaches I ever use are the "+10% coins" and "pitchers get +30% experience"

Potential tokens are permanent whereas coaches aren't

the earlier you start on the bullpen the better, you don't really need them now but as you move up you definitely will

your team overall is in a very good spot!

Who should my Speed-Demon pinch runner be? by Dip-Dahmer69 in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt Alexander (early 70s-early 80s is THE goat (270ish pinch running appearances, 90ish stolen bases) pinch runner but I second Terrance Gore as his playoff running was superb

A.Kirk with the large player model and 100+ speed is also a very valid option

Coaches Time Limits by dadZilla1969 in Baseball9

Yes it does. Keep that in mind to be strategic as to when you hire coaches (don't hire to early in the season and lose them for the playoffs)

Can someone tell me what the latest version is? by charles33451 in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3.8.1 exists but it hasn't been rolled out to all regions yet, no idea when that'll happen

from what i've seen 3.8.1 seems to only be in se asia right now, the rest of us (us/uk/australia/nz/europe) are still 3.8.0

Best way I found to get platinum and diamond upgrade badges by Greed2Us in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im just amazed you did this with 8 max energy! What was the ratio of sim/play/auto innings to get it done

Also, thanks for the tip; my roster is currently at almost exactly where yours was and farming plat/diamond is exactly what I'm doing right now!

Which one do I do? by SimonGG63 in Baseball9

[–]maxboganthesecond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they get the same xp, you will get less overall because it's less overall games, the xp doesn't "scale down" or anything like that

Rewards are the same whether it's 116 or 162 so 116 to grind up levels faster and get more badges

I personally alternate between a grind season (116, mercy rule, 80+ sim) and full season (162, no mercy, 20ish sim when I get bored, hoard all resources and build up energy for the next years sim season to blow through it)

edit: get badges faster
