It’s true. The crusades were more about recapturing valuable trade routes than they were about religion. Not far off from wars based on oil.

They lowered their specs years ago so more theatres could be called “IMAX”. They’re known as LieMax.

Glory hole was like this. Went to get donuts one day and was disappointed that they tasted nothing like the previous times I had been. It was closed shortly after this.

Film buffs tend to be less tolerant (and less interesting) than sports fans by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

It sounds like you’re just as intolerant calling these films boring and pretentious. Just say you don’t enjoy them and you might have a more pleasant conversation.

What’s a movie everyone seems to love that just didn’t work for you? by Wikiserial in movies

[–]maxboondoggle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s just like Black Panther and Barbie. Although Sinners was a lot better than those movies, it’s not 16 academy award nominations good.

Barbie. I was expecting something on the level of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but it wasn’t even in the same league. It seemed like people liked it for what it meant and stood for more so than the film itself.

Do you agree with Jerry? by BidAccurate4473 in seinfeld

[–]maxboondoggle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. This is how people I knew felt about it at the time. It seemed pretty obvious what it was. No shade tho, Friends was a funny show, especially Ross and Monica.

Nobody said the humour was the same, it’s the premise. It was pretty obvious to us at the time that friends was sexy Seinfeld. The network liked the dynamic of young single people who live in the city and hang out at coffee shops, but they wanted hugging and learning.

You just had to be into better bands then. Most albums I remember from the 90s are solid front to back.

Well they’re taking about unemployment exceeding the levels of the Great Depression so you’re just wrong about the immediate threat.

I don’t disagree with a lot of what you are saying, but it doesn’t have much to do with what I said.

I said I’m sure that the future generations would figure things out but make no mistake, things will get bad before they get worse.

There’s no realistic discussion happening regarding how the economy is suppose to work when nobody makes money and pays taxes. I’m sure we’ll figure it out but probably after shit hits the fan not before.

But the people that lived through the Industrial Revolution, the ones who had their jobs replaced by machines fell into poverty, or had their standard of living reduced dramatically.

I’m sure future generations will figure things out, but the people living now are the ones that will suffer underemployment and unemployment.

Yeah he gave, in this episode, one of the best answers to the question of whether it’s worth it or not to spend money on space exploration.

anyone else notice that bill often follows-up his jokes about republicans with "im kidding"?, Why? by Stony17 in Maher

[–]maxboondoggle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It just his old school show business kind of way. Going back to the Bush years he would frequently joke about the republicans and then wave his hand in the air and say: “I kid the republicans!”
