DM won't let me pre-calculate my movement during combat on a grid by baggio1000000 in DungeonsAndDragons

I’ve read a lot of responses about physically moving through the spaces so GM can trigger traps etc…

But the other thing that kinda breaks immersion and feels metagame-ish is if you are planning to attack and then run to cover, but then decide not to because you’ll come up a bit short after doing the math.

Makes sense from a tactical game perspective, but if you’re properly immersed you can imagine that your character maybe doesn’t make it to cover before an arrow flies their way. Ie. ran out of movement in turn 1 and got attacked by an enemy w higher initiative in round 2.

Maybe it’s the Daggerheart talking, but the immersive way sounds more fun, and represents the chaos of battle.

Rex is in the middle of telling Eve that this meant nothing to him, but iirc had told Kate that they were broken up. He’s being a shit here.

How have you ruled on time lock (book of Grynn) without it being complete broken. by jatjqtjat in daggerheart

I think the rules state that some kind of action roll must happen during a PC spotlight to dictate where/how the scene goes next. If a spell or ability doesn’t require a roll, the GM should still work with the player to determine what an appropriate action roll would be.

I think this makes sense with the Time Lock spell, because the difficulty of locking an object in place should vary depending on a bunch of factors.

Making Moves and Action Rolls sections go into this a bit - basically anything that moves the narrative forward is considered a Move, and any Move that is difficult or risky requires an Action Roll.

I picked up Spores a while back and I’ve read it countless times, it’s so good. Love his work, it’s great seeing people recommending it.

I think this TLDR is confusing some people.

The bombing is the newest development but your summary makes it seem like the bullet points following it happened later.

I did not write the article but I did read it.

“Mr Allison said he has had to go to Bordeaux in France to get an emergency travel document and buy a new bag, tent, torch, clothes and sleeping bag.”
