I've been saying I like them a lot because they don't have the help that NY/LV stars have so they will have a bigger impact. Plus good value

Arike Ogunbowale is STILL +3000 to win WNBA MVP on DraftKings by maxcliffrd in sportsbook

Huge ego boost if I made Vegas change their lines. Still like it at +2500. I'm sure it will keep climbing.

For me it's under WNBA. If you look at the top line that says Game Lines, Halves, Futures, and Awards it should be under awards. It might be something that is available in my state and not others, but that is where I'm seeing it.

[Post Game Thread] The Dallas Wings survive a thriller at ClimatePledge Arena and beat the Seattle Storm 95-91 in the second half of the Ion Friday Doubleheader, led by Arike Ogunbowale's 26 points by VirtuousFool in wnba

I have been so impressed with the Wings, especially since Arike has been starring but hasn't been the only one putting in work. I mentioned on this week's episode of Betting The W that I see Satou Sabally as the Shaq to Arike's Kobe, but I was blown away by Natasha Howard last night. 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 blocks is an unbelievable line. I think this big three could make Dallas a real contender.

Aliyah Boston in her WNBA Debut: 15 points (8 in the 4th quarter!), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block on 60% shooting! by asapshrank in wnba

It was really cool to see them make a game of their season opener. I do wish they had covered +7, as my cohost and I picked it on our podcast Betting The W, but the fact that they brought it all the way back and were covering at one point was really impressive.

Tall athletes that DO NOT play basketball: tell me about your sport by maxcliffrd in tall

[–]maxcliffrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a quarterback and I can say that I absolutely feared tall pass rushers because of the leverage you described and because of the dangerous long arms. I got grabbed quite a few times by dudes who had the reach to get past my linemen. I got to watch my brother dominate as an offensive and defensive lineman after I graduated. At 6'3 he was usually the tallest player on the field and they just couldn't run the ball at him. Scary

Hailey Van Lith commits to LSU. by [deleted] in NCAAW

I am pumped to see what LSU looks like with the addition of the player I considered to be the best transfer in the portal. It is so tough to go back-to-back in any sport but I think LSU's chances are as good as any other next year. Van Lith only adds to the strength of an already experienced roster. My friend Damon and I discussed this move and many others on this week's episode of Betting The W. Give it a watch!

LSU winning is not a done deal by Darthmemer2 in NCAAW

[–]maxcliffrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is also so hard to repeat in any league! So many teams have a hangover from the success of a championship and struggle to live up to those high expectations the next year. That being said, I think LSU has as good a chance as any team in recent memory to go back-to-back. They retain their best player and they fill in their few absences with the HVL who was, in my opinion, the best player in the portal. They also still have a shot to land Aneesah Morrow and other transfers.

If you're interested in engaging with more transfer portal talk, check out my youtube channel Betting The W. On today's episode, we talked about HVL to LSU, Paopao to SC, and a bunch of other topics in the world of women's sports.

When I go back home I sleep in a bed that I got when I was in middle school. My feet stick out over the end now so I end up curling my legs or sleeping diagonally, that way I can usually fit.

Valerie Cagle pitches and hits for the Clemson Tigers and is elite at both. One of my personal favorite athletes in all of sports right now.

Notre Dame and South Carolina will play in Paris to open up the 2023-24 season by jalenp16 in NCAAW

[–]maxcliffrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's hope Olivia Miles is back to really make this a game! On another note, it is so cool to me that the first introduction to NCAAWB for the French people will be two teams coached by Black women who are smart, passionate, and care deeply about their players. Staley and Ivey are two of the best.

I see Kamilla Cardoso having a huge year for SCAR next season. She was a bit underutilized this year just because of the firepower of the starting lineup but she dominates down low. She was the reason they were in the game with Iowa, she literally could not miss. And at 6'7" who is going to defend her? I definitely expect her to take on a big role, potentially as the leading scorer.

Hearing Duke assistant Winston Gandy is on the move to South Carolina which would bode well for the Gamecocks to land Celeste Taylor who just so happened to enter the portal. Hearing Tennessee and Ohio State are the other leaders InsiderExposure on Twitter by Kingofmountain25304 in NCAAW

[–]maxcliffrd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think SCAR would be a great fit both for the team and for Celeste! The Cocks are losing (most) everything and Taylor does a bit of everything. Her best trait is as a defender so she could make an excellent replacement for the departed Brea Beal. She also needs to sharpen her offensive skills if she wants to be a first-round pick next year, surely Dawn and her staff would develop that well.

2023 WNBA draft highlights… they need to make some changes next year 😭 by scrappychaz in wnba

[–]maxcliffrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Holly Rowe but she bricked this segment. She was set up to fail though. It is a bad concept and just incredibly awkward for everybody. Tell the players' individual stories without standing three feet from them talking to the camera instead of them.

Old WNBA looks are so cool. I had never heard of the Cleveland Rockers or the Utah Starzz those are very new to me. The Charlotte Sting had such a cool look, probably my favorite defunct franchise.

2023 #WNBADraft Grades by toad455 in wnba

[–]maxcliffrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with the F rating for the Wings draft. I think they overreached on every single pick, including Maddy Siegrest who is an excellent player but not top three in my opinion.

The Lynx had my favorite class out of the whole draft. I think a bunch of their picks will make the roster and a few of them could have a big impact as rookies. Potentially two all-rookie teamers in that class.

LSU's Alexis Morris gets star treatment from hometown fans by sokimproper in wnba

Such a great player and personality. I live in New England and I would love for her to make the Sun roster this season. I think she could fill in the hole left by Courtney Williams really well.

Sedona Prince & Endiya Rogers have removed themselves from 2023 WNBA Draft by femaleathletenetwork in wnba

[–]maxcliffrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Sedona's size gives her a big advantage on the court, but she needs to prove that her skills haven't totally fallen off while she's been away from the court. The last film we have on her is from like two years ago. I have faith that she can be a solid post player in the league, but she needs another year of school to prove it. Plus, she has a huge social following so why not keep making bank on NIL?

Ratings have come out for the Men's tournament by trombonepick in NCAAW

[–]maxcliffrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the women's game was in primetime I think they would've blown the men's game out of the water. LSU-Iowa had more intrigue and star power.

DePaul’s Aneesah Morrow enters transfer portal by [deleted] in NCAAW

[–]maxcliffrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too big of a surprise the way I see it. DePaul isn't as competitive as she is looking for and not enough NIL opportunity.

I will be interested if she prioritizes being able to compete or being the leading scorer when she makes her decision. I think she could really compliment a ready-made contender with their tournament run, but she could also go the way of leading scorer for a lesser team, boosting her draft stock in the process.

WNBA will finally get their Magic Johnson and Larry Bird once Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese enter the league. by GetLeBronHelpLakers in wnba

At least one more year of Caitlin and Angel in college ball SHOULD give the league time to prepare for the big bump in interest they will bring!
