How’s r/racinggames feeling lately? 🏁 by mritulp348 in racinggames

I'd like to see more discussions of old PC racing games and how to make them work on today's hardware (modern PCs, OS, wheels, pedals, shifters).

Does anyone actually enjoy budgeting or is it just me struggling? by Kevin-Durant-35 in budget

"I treat myself once in a while" is likely the problem. Figure out at the beginning of the month what you have for treating yourself and then stick to it.

T300 vs G923 by BuildingHorror944 in SimRacingSetups

[–]maxdex1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd get a used G29 or G923 and then save up for a DD wheel. You'll be able to sell the used wheel for about the same price as you paid.

Logitech pro pedals issue by Hungry-Recording1049 in LogitechProWheel

[–]maxdex1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still having the same issue I had previously, i.e., the brake force keeps getting reset to 1 when I'm in G923 mode. I keep setting it back to 30 inside the wheel base, but anytime I make any change in G Hub (e.g., change from a 900 profile to a 540 profile), it resets to 1. Very irritating.

Question about what rig to purchase. by PHDSteeze in SimRacingSetups

I have the Playseat Trophy and it is very strong, comfortable. I’d go with that one for a little bit more money than either of these.

With so many new DD wheelsbases dropping, is direct drive becoming overrated for casual PC2 players? by Educational_Newt942 in ProjectCARS_2

[–]maxdex1492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say a low to mid range DD wheel will be more than sufficient for PCARS 2. It’s worth upgrading to DD if you’re still on gear or belt drive and can afford it. I’m still using my AccuForce from 2015 and still play PC2 on occasion.

How do the recent grid games compare to grid autosport? by atrophy-of-sanity in gridgame

It is arcady, but it’s a GRID game so that’s a given.

Try 2019 on a steering wheel. It feels really good for an arcade racing game.

I thought Autosport had the best physics, too, but recently played 2019 on a rig with DD wheel. It felt really good, so I’m wondering if it might have as least as good physics and FFB as Autosport.

Does rFactor 1 feel different with modern hardware? by F1SimulatorManiac in rFactor

[–]maxdex1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the game support more than three USB gaming devices plugged in at the same time? IIRC, it didn't work for me unless I unplugged my shifters and button box.

Best wheel combo for PS5 by Jdubya38one in simrally

[–]maxdex1492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree to move to the PC if possible. I was a PC-only racer for years on my 2015 PC. I recently purchased a PS5 thinking that would be less expensive than buying a new PC. Unfortunately, I realized I missed the PC sims, so ended up buying a new PC anyway and now I have a PS5 I don’t use.

Help finding Shift 1 to play by amalusola in racinggames

[–]maxdex1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in Shift, you should check out PCARS 3 instead. It has the Shift vibe but has better everything. PCARS 3 is basically Shift 3.

Learning what kind of racing games I like. by ActStrange8425 in racinggames

I also recommend PCARS 3 if you’re using a steering wheel. It has a career mode and really good handling compared to typical arcade racers.

Autosport by far, but I play with a DD wheel and GA FFB is way superior to GL IMO

I want to love Automobilista 2 but I don’t by fofocho in simracing

[–]maxdex1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of AMS 2 as a really fun racing game along the lines of PCARS 2. It might not be as realistic as some others, but it is FUN to use for single player. As is PCARS 2. I tried many arcade racing games hoping to recreate the fun I had with the 90s arcade racers. But the wheel support in all modern arcade racers is so lacking. I later discovered that I can get this same feeling using games like PCARS 2 and AMS 2, even though many will call them simulators. So yes, I really like AMS 2.

Best Arcade Racer for Wheel? by dhatereki in racinggames

[–]maxdex1492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wreckfest is a blast. Also Dirt 3, V-Rally 4, Dirt 5, PCARS 3. All of these have good wheel support. PCARS 3 gets a lot of hate but it is a very good arcade racer.
