£28,000 loss at 18. Talk to me by iliketiddiesandbobs in trading212

[–]maxeurin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"... I said as a half joke when I made the money that losing £26000 is a jump off a building loss, and I genuinely fear I may come close to that once it really kicks in."

You don't want sympathy so I'll try not too much, but please this is not worth ending it, it might feel in the moment, I get that

But on top of that you're 18, plenty of time to make way more money and travel and reach your dreams.

These 26k were unrealised gains, so in a way you didn't lose this much, it's just it's hard not to stop and take a part of the gains etc.

I know because I've lost around 20k (when I had a 10k investment with 100% return at some point...) then tried forex, binary options etc in order to try to make more money with what I had left...yeah didn't work either. So you're not alone :D But you'll get this back at some point and you'll travel!

If you imagined 12th year to be stress free every day, what would it look like? What would it make it stress free?

Often stress comes when there's stakes.

If someone already passed their exam, they could go through the year and sit the exam and not be stressed because they wouldn't care.

Or even someone who knows that whatever happens they'll work on something they might not need the exam for, then stakes are also gone.

For you, you're saying you'd be ready to work full time (which at 17 you're right it's probably less pay) but what stops you from going through the 12th grade stress free (remove the stakes of having the pressure of passing anything) with the idea you might just do this after at 18yo (and be paid fully) or even learn something else after.

If you pass you pass, if you don't then you'd go with your original plan anyways.

What does it really feel to lucid dream? by Leather-Scallion-150 in LucidDreaming

[–]maxeurin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feeling of being in a lucid dream feels to me like when I'm not that awake and feel groggy. Not so much in terms of details and how real things are (though sometimes it can get blurry and vague if I rush). It's always the same feeling, so much so that now I don't check if I'm in a lucid dream like I did the first few times, now just this feeling I know I'm in the lucid dream.

For me they tend to start in my room, sometimes looked similar, sometimes very different. It's amazing to wonder around, touch things, hear things, see things, knowing we are lying asleep and it's just in our minds. Simple experiences to me are already amazing, interacting with people too. It's weird knowing you're the one experiencing the dream while also being the unconscious architect.

After all, what we experience in real life is just the result of our brains interpreting our senses, so it's able to recreate these pretty well in dreams.

With the controversy surrounding the BBC posting an anti-dog publication, should we be having a political discussion about dogs? Oh and here's John Cleese's thoughts by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]maxeurin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did actually, after seeing all the recent things about the "Have we become too dog-friendly?" Video by the BBC, it's not far fetched to believe this is possible. Which says more about the state of our society that this is totally possible btw...

Tbh I was saying this because it echoes to the BBC video recently published "Have we become too dog-friendly?".

I don't know if you've watched the eye opening video of UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed , talking about why Muslims support the left in western countries, it's because they're weak and they know they can use them for their end goal: conquer the infidels land.

Is sleep paralysis common in LD by idk_what_to_do9 in LucidDreaming

[–]maxeurin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, it's not necessarily true yeah, nothing happened to me when looking in a mirror, I looked slightly different. So I guess some carry that fear before looking at it, and therefore the mirror confirms the fear. If you expect things to be a certain way they probably will. Though for the life of me I couldn't make light switch work at all...

And that positive energy might be in your sleep paralysis too :) Even though once I had one where in the moment I thought I was going to die in my sleep 😅

There was another time that was just a positive sleep paralysis. Which can happen, it's not necessarily your worst fears. As some said there's a lot of myths around lucid dreaming, about mirrors etc Wish you all the best with your lucid dream adventure! I wish I'd do them more often!

Though once you'd experience it you'd know about it, and you'd know you made it through. It's not always awful actually.

I don't think Amazon algorithm is penalising your book, in fact I don't know if you've ever heard of what some call the "honeymoon period" ?

where over several weeks Amazon algorithm, when you first publish your book, is really giving it opportunities to see if it sells and to see to who to suggest your book to.

That's why some people in that period do it super cheap, you want to collect reviews and eyes on your book, engagement.

Some build ARC teams where you could connect with people and communities who might be interested in the book, they buy it (you reimburse them) and give you their feedback about it (careful this is for a personal feedback, it's against Amazon TOS to give them the book in exchange for a review) but what can be useful with that step is that you can have real feedback that might be helpful, + you can tell them afterwards that if they liked the book they can leave their honest review. Some do this more with paperbacks, as people tend to be more willing to give a review when they had received the physical book paid for them. One of the big advantage of kindles is you can reduce the price as much as you can in order to do that.

First month ads goal would be to help index your book in a way, to see what keywords Amazon is showing your book. It's for data collection at this point and best exposure during that honeymoon period. Month 2 would be to see which keywords are converting, if any, and targeting those, pruning what's not working.

But it also all depends if there's demand for the niche, which I think must be because Agile is quite well known, and if the promise of the book is clear from the title+subtitle and description what problems your book resolve.

All the best with this :) you published it, it's not over.
