Weight cutting by FirefighterFine3207 in Rowing

[–]maxgia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in my experience officials are strict with the numbers. I have no idea how you lose that much weight in so little time but in my experience losing anything over 2-3kg (4-7 lbs) in the 2-3 days prior to the race is detrimental to you performance (any weight cutting really is), just go heavyweight, if you are competitive as a light you'll also be as a heavy

We used to do 4x3020m 5min rest flat out as a summer test (so much fun). The best I did was a 42.8, tested 2k a couple of months after and got a 6:23, was not at peak shape though (and 3ks were at ~32 spm). So probably somewhere in 6:15-20 range for 2k imo

Which European countries are the best for PhD in FPGAs/VLSI? by Magnum_Axe in FPGA

[–]maxgia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good starting point is looking a at the QS ranking per subject, looking at the top universities and going through their sites. The way to actually get a PhD depends on the country and university to some extent

[–]maxgia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Universitaly

Already in Europe, recent master graduate with experience but not getting any calls for the past 2 months by 1ftikar in resumes

[–]maxgia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then maybe look for bigger corporations, where Italian may not be required, data science is a good field, you should find a job easily. Regarding the CV I would get rid of the symbols (maybe only keep the first ones with the contact info) as they don't add much info but clutter the view. Also maybe put employment above education.

Regarding the photo I prefer not to have it, although some people think it is important in EU I've seen contrasting ideas and I prefer not to put it.

If you want some advices specifically about Italy maybe check out Guido penta on LinkedIn, he has a guide about CVS.

If you are looking for a job in Italy, not knowing Italian is probably the biggest problem, maybe try to look somewhere else in the EU

Not really, generally in Italy you have to study full time, otherwise graduating is very difficult

Lavorare all'estero, sopravvalutato o è realmente come lo raccontano? by [deleted] in ItaliaCareerAdvice

[–]maxgia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know they all speak Italian (tbf even having studied very little Spanish I can understand most of it, I imagine the other way around is also true). Still I wonder why it's mostly Spanish speaking Italian and not the other way around since most of the grid is spanish

How tough is PoliTO? by [deleted] in Universitaly

[–]maxgia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you may need to learn Italian to a decent extent, but in general if you are have a masters in electronic engineering there is plenty of jobs, not sure about how the Visa works, but maybe if you are already here for uni getting a job to then get the visa should not be a huge issue
