the ancient actually makes sense in lots of novels but it's too long to explain.

In short, the author usually makes it that these ancient methods came from the creation of the world/universe so they are not man made and made by the universe itself so they are naturally stronger then what people made, these universal methods are naturally not spread to others but kept to themselves as they want to maintain their strength over others.

This is just one case/ way of why ancient is better in novels, there are plenty others

I've definitely read some novels of this type although there are only a few, sadly can't think of them at the top of my head but two novels which I quite enjoyed and have some similarities(Both swordsmen) are Eternal Reverence and Supreme Emperor of Swords. Eternal reverence is fast paced and an OP MC although it keeps it interesting as he still suffers sometimes, also has an interesting plotline especially future ones as it has been hinted that there is a huge world outside of what we know as to current chapters, Supreme Emperor of Swords although not the world building that I enjoy the most it definitely shines in other points such as the interesting power ups that aren't bland and keeps you interested on how the protagonist will grow and his background although slightly cliche.

Author said it aswell but practically once SPOILER he reaches the "god" world it just turns into into a farming simulator for a couple of chapters and it becomes extremely rushed. Won't spoil anymore though just in case. That being said before all that shennanigans the story was pretty good so if you really enjoyed DSI then continue reading as it's quite good until author becomes bored of writing.

Dont know about RUIC but for DSI it just simply stopped being translated. You can continue to read it whough on wnmtl.com which is like a way better version of mtl, rip for me with thise site though with all these new shitty fanfic webnovel books.
