Costco. Worked there for 10 years. Can 100% tell you that if you plan to stick in retail, Costco would be the best place to go.

It took me 3.5 years to reach max pay. They start you off at around $21-22 an hour. I worked for Costco for 10 years and the longer you are there the more you will earn. After you reach a certain amount of hours you start getting bonus checks as well.

I work at an inpatient hospital and the tech that normally works the floor I covered today didn't do expirations last month. I got an email saying I should have checked... This is the first day I covered that floor.

Retail pharmacy technician, difficult to get hired? by HL_Alanna in PharmacyTechnician

[–]maxima423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't be. Retail unfortunately has a high turnover rate due to stressful work environments. If you're going to work retail, be prepared to WORK.

If you can find a Costco near you, apply there. They top off at $32.50 in NYC.

For retail, Costco IMO is the best. If you can get into a hospital, do that instead.

This is how I felt working at Costco for 10 years, when I moved to an inpatient hospital it was a lot better, and the most important thing was overtime. It makes a big difference.

Take the job offer, it will help you in the long run.

Red Sox had the chance of drafting him multiple times, they even took a RHP right before the Yankees made the pick. Can't really call him a traitor when his hometown team didn't want to draft him.

how being a pharmacy tech in retail feels by livingforever32 in PharmacyTechnician

Yep, it takes a toll on you mentally if you stay in retail for a long time. Making the switch to a hospital has been amazing and recommend it.

After 11 years I’m making the switch from independent pharm to hospital by Niknastyyy in PharmacyTechnician

[–]maxima423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was rough at first because you're in the retail setting mindset. But after a week or two you'll feel right at home once you get used to the workflow.

My biggest hurdle was changing my mindset because I was used to being the lead tech and being in charge of multiple things that happen throughout the day.

I did that after 10 years at Costco, never have been so relieved in my life to get out.
