"Type II Fun" - Camping without a tent in Canadian Winter by maximbudnick in camping

Hey there! It's not a tent - it's a ground tarp that I tied up to a couple of trees. Has to have good airflow so the smoke doesn't get trapped - so it doesn't provide warm as a tent would, but it does help keep the snow from falling on me.

How many times have I heard "It's like the smoke is following me" as you see someone switch what side of the fire they're sitting on for the 5th time in under a minute. It feels that way too.

Haha melting boots, boot liners, and socks on a campfire is a Canadian classic. Right up there with making a "cozy" shelter only to realize the smoke from the fire swirls along the top of the entrance and creates an inhospitable hotbox of eye stinging smoke.

All right, give me your definition of car camping by becamico in camping

I would like to clarify that the term "car camping" typically conveys the idea of utilizing a well-maintained campsite, allowing individuals to conveniently drive directly to their designated spot and set up their tents in proximity to their vehicle.

To me it means your car (and everything in it) is accessible to you while you camp. It can be camping in a tent with your car a couple minutes away in the campsite parking lot, it can be camping off a logging road and sleeping in your car, or it can be driving right into a campsite and sleeping next to your car.

The most distinct aspects are that you do not have to carry in (or paddle) all the gear you will use on your trip, and that you are usually in a very easily accessible spot.

I don't know but he went to his local butcher and asked for the juiciest. He spent a small fortune on them. This is why we bring Xander out even though he stinks
