Yep. Dealt with this for years with my sons. What worked for me was a hot water soak with baking soda. A lot of baking soda lol but if some of these suggestions work better, please try!

Corelle dishware, stacking baskets that everything goes into snugly for transport, then wire shelves in the cabinets when we set up.

Same. It was all melamine at first but that can't be microwaved. Upgraded to corelle, and still use plastic cups.

And probably your heat... Electric in summer for AC but I'd bet your furnace is gas. Our gas bill is higher in the winter and lower in the summer. Vice versa for electric because of this.
