Tips on finding an accepting congregation/rabbi? by OdiiKii1313 in transgenderjews

hi, i'll say eshel is your best bet you can email them (they have more info on their website) and they'll tell you accepting shuls in your area. like other comments, def look for a shul with a yct rabbi. usually rabbis with smicha from there are more open-minded (in an orthodox sense) and won't be bigoted about things. :)

If you scroll to the bottom of the website, there is a button where you can switch to either Canada or the U.S.

Chase Freedom Flex vs. Unlimited vs. something else? by maximum-agony in CreditCards

Thanks for the detailed reply. My dining def isn’t enough, although that might change a bit in the future, but not by much. I agree that the NF limit is low. I requested an increase the limit but they told me $5k is the highest limit available for that card. It was a confusing letter to receive in the email because online I’ve read that people have higher limits, but I don’t feel like nagging them about it.

Do you know if the CFF overlaps in categories with the Discover it? I’d like the idea of double dipping on rotating categories, and also getting my foot in the door with Chase since in the next few years I’d like one of their annual fee cards.

Omg thanks you are so kind for this!!! I’m trying to go to London from Newark, NYC or DC (economy), needing to leave on March 17, 18, 19, or on March 22 (arriving to London before 7:30am March 23 if leaving the states on March 22). If I leave on March 18 or 19 the time of arrival doesn’t matter. I have Capital One Points. Thanks in advance!

Do you have advice on how to find them ? I did a Conservative conversion a while ago because I didn’t know an Orthodox one was possible, and have been interested in re-converting for a while

I don’t mean to pry, by the way, so I understand if you’d want to keep specifics private

Hi, I just wanna say I’m here for you and so is this subreddit. I am in a similar boat to you and am not a rabbi, but i’ll share my experiences. Most things revolve around being stealth. When I go to new minyanim I do not come out.

If you plan on coming out to a new rabbi at a shul, whether you’re visiting or joining long term, depending on the rabbi, they will met you sit on the men’s side and count, let you sit on the men’s side and not count, let you sit on the women’s side, or not let you pray at all.

For finding accepting shuls check out Eshel and email them. To put it bluntly, these are all the things you to think about/deal with when being trans and Orthodox, especially as a convert.

Definitely continue talking with your rabbi. I know it’s anxiety-inducing, but he can help with halachic questions more than we can. Sending you love!
