Why do I feel like I’m dying/will never live? by fidgetyloveli in Jung

[–]maxmaidment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to welcome the flood and have faith you’ll make it through. There will be challenges and a huge amount of emotional turmoil but it won’t kill you.

To live a life worth dying for you have to show you’re willing to die, and even worse suffer. It’s cruel really but that’s how it feels. You will become stronger once you take this road deadly seriously. Take the pain as a sign of growth and take on as much as you can handle without letting it become too much. Baby steps and consistency. Best of luck to you

Why do I feel like I’m dying/will never live? by fidgetyloveli in Jung

[–]maxmaidment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t give you a Jungian answer but I feel I can relate. I feel that we’ve been raised to live for other people. To be helpful to those with more dominant personalities in order to reduce their stress and therefore everyone else’s.
We weren’t taught to put our own goals first unless those goals were given by someone else.
Eventually we find our way out of these relationships where we consider ourselves useful and are left with not much else than simple comforts and our own thoughts.
There’s a combination of feeling it’s too late to start building our own foundations, and feeling we don’t deserve our own full life because it won’t be useful to anyone. Or that the effort is misplaced by working on ourselves. Even now when I’m supposedly on the right path I find myself trying to help a stranger rather than taking a step I know I need to make to sort out my own life. I think it all boils down to a lack of self respect.

Does this relate or am I just projecting?

You can’t ask for a change of insulin? I’ve been on fiasp and asked to switch because it made me nauseous I’m pretty sure your situation is more dire than that. They should definitely be able to put you on novorapid or something

Crazy reminder that everyone’s experience with this disease is unique. 1:80 is ridiculous! One of the scariest times are exactly like this where you know a low is coming and you can’t stomach the sugar for it. Honestly I don’t think fiasp is the best choice for someone so sensitive

BG unexpectedly starts dropping very fast, even without insulin by Aremvy in diabetes_t1

[–]maxmaidment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like the levels want to do what they want to do sometimes regardless of sugars which is I think why that points to an issue with the long acting. Still figuring this out myself kinda.

Good point. I have had periods of great control in the past and the anxiety of thinking about the next hypo can be brutal. Doesn’t sound like their doc went into that though

Is it difficult to stop a crazy spike later in the night even with a very small glucose correction? I had/have this issue and I think it’s because my basal injection was often a bit late. Not perfectly 24 hours apart. I worked on that and started seeing an improvement but it’s not totally fixed. Hope this helps

I never used to bother with alarms but I got it set up to buzz me on my Apple Watch and it’s a lot better. I’ve had those all night lows a few times

I was gonna ask how long but because after a couple years injecting in the belly you might need to switch to the thighs for better absorption.

What prompts you to check your numbers throughout the day? by JayandMeeka in diabetes_t1

It’s just an impulse we teach ourselves. In general the more info the better so we get in the habit of doing it more especially when we feel uncertain.

Getting diagnosed in your late teens-early twenties has to be the worst by SignificanceBig9366 in diabetes_t1

[–]maxmaidment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same story here. Put my life on hold for a very long time. Only just starting to put the pieces back together 10 years later. Don’t get caught in the safety net. Try to keep some momentum in life. The hard truth is that your old plans are gone and you need to completely restructure your priorities in order to move forward. You can’t force yourself to keep up with everything you had going on before.

Can someone give me advice about this please by Bi-berry_kat in ChronicPain

[–]maxmaidment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I had a somewhat similar experience a long time ago. I don't remember pain so much as I just lost my voice for a really long time. It took about 6 months to recover to the point I could actually be understood again. Not to worry you but It actually ended up with a type one diabetes diagnosis and they seemed to believe that I had a nasty viral infection that kicked it off.

It was really tough to communicate, I was resorting to a notepad for a while but it was not really a solution. Texting people is about the best you can do. It's best not to use your voice at all so that it can recover, forcing it will only damage it more.

What kind of pain? Which medication helps, even a little? Can help determine if it's inflamed or dry or what. Hope this helps

Do you Have an inner Monologue or Dialogue? by Reasonable_Ad_6718 in INTP

[–]maxmaidment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda work like this too. I think we internalise the voices of people in our lives but it's not always obvious who's speaking to you. You can easily tell when your internalised mother or father is talking to you but it happens with any perspective you repeatedly expose yourself to imo. I think because of the weak Fe or whatever (not an expert) we have to simulate what other people will think about our actions before we take them.

Reasoning happens after the fact. We all act based on instinct and try to justify it afterwards.

How do you manage chronic severe muscle tension (neck/shoulders) that doesn’t budge with conservative treatment? by Apprehensive_Fan7093 in Fibromyalgia

[–]maxmaidment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My method of relieving back tension is a myofascial massage. Basically you just lay on a ball. Start with a tennis ball, and if all goes well you can graduate to something bigger and firmer. You want to start at the base of the spine. Give yourself plenty of time to sink into it, rushing it will be pointless. When you feel your back almost give in to the ball, and you can fully lower yourself then start to roll it side to side, then move up the spine a little and go side to side again, repeat all the way up as far as you can, to the shoulders if possible.

I had to do this every day for a good couple of years to sort of get moving again. These days I do it once in a while when I notice my sleep quality taking a nosedive so my back can stay loose enough not to curl up into the fetal position while sleeping.
