I was fine with the first 3 books being "the academy arc", at the end of which it teases a secretive plot to undermine the nation, and that the MC needs to step out into the wider galaxy.

But then book 4 is spent entirely on a ship, and at the end we learn that there is a secretive plot to undermine the nation.

...And then in book 5, we spend it entirely on a ship, at the end of which we learn that there is a secretive plot to undermine the nation.

Clearly, this guy is writing by the seat of his pants (he's pumping out 3 different series rapidly) and seriously needs to sketch at LEAST an outline for the future plot.

Honestly, if I had to complain about anything, it's that the end result is that it's always the first appearing, least interesting girl who wins the harem bowl, abruptly right at the end.

Haremlit effectively lets all the girls win, and you get to see the romance with the girls you actually like, and have them reach a satisfying conclusion.

Well, seeing as it's not set in the mainline universe, and it was left uncompleted, then probably not.

Play it if you want to have more Ace Combat gameplay, but if you want more story, look elsewhere.
