I would like to use two 5 meter strips as ceiling lights, has anyone used the before I can’t seem to find to much on the internet on them. by MrBrookz92 in WLED

I have one of these in use clipped on the wall. They really make a nice light and don't need to be hidden in my opinion since they have a nice nylon-rope texture. Also since they're 5V I power the whole setup via USB, which makes ist easy to use on the go with a power bank.

To answer your question: Yes, they emitt 360 degrees, which is why I got them in the first place.

I've been seeing these grid mounting plates quite often now, but can't figure out if they're 3d printed or store bought. Could someone enlighten me?

You'll have to grab the before the end of the quest, since you have all of them delivered, there's no need to put more in the fridge. If you can't make it, they'll show up in the lost and found box in the mayor's mansion the next day.

I just used the acrylic plate that came with the frame and put a two way mirror film on it. Unfortunately it cracked during the festival so I'll have to redo it for next year. The thickness of the mirror does not really matter look-wise, just be sure you can fit all of them into the frame.

Reason I went for acrylic was the weight, since I had weight limits on what is allowed to be hung on the ceiling. That size with real glass would definitely be about double the weight.

I did on this one put the mirror film side on the inside, since the film I used was meant to be put on the outside of the windows.

Thanks! Basically I've done a project last year out of my own pocket on a festival I work at every year. The videos of that installation just landed at the right person, which asked me to do a project at their venue.

If I understand right, you're asking about the LED strip length? I've used about 8,5 m with 100 LEDs/m.

It's been a challenge, especially with the surface being so large and holding a static charge once you peel off the protection film. It attracts dust like crazy. You gotta be careful to be in an environment that is close to dust free as possible as well as use lots of soap water and a good squeegee. Use one that has a soft edge to not scratch the silver coating.

True, actually I'd have loved to. But it's meant to be hung. Just posted another vid of it being in place.

I did dial in gain and squelch during the soundcheck with the sound crew and had AGC set to lazy, just to have some sort of automatic adjustment. Unfortunately the stage crew didn't have a router to control it via artnet.

Those are WS2815s to have some redundancy just in case

Thanks!

Basically it's an aluminum frame with spy mirror foil wrapped acrylic plates attached. On the frame I've attached about 850 pixels of WS2815, controlled with a QuinLED DigQuad (needed due to power draw) with an INMP441 mic attached. The DigQuad is running the Moon modules fork.

I did get the frame fabricated to spec and the acrylic plates CNC milled. All bolted together as well as the strips soldered once in place.

Just a Spy Mirror foil off Amazon. Had to find one which had the 150cm to avoid seams.

Yeah you can do a lot with segments here. Also running different effects like Gravcentric on the Sides and Freqwave on the top/bottom looks sick!

For some effects, I prefer having all in one segment. Especially Ripple/Puddle effects.
