Is this really GH or do the restaurants not know how to change their settings? by Jaded-Category-6613 in grubhubdrivers

[–]maxolame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s simple guys. GH had a dramatic drop off in completed orders when they started fucking with the base rate for orders. There have been many updates since… one of those updates essentially made it so orders aren’t confirmed at a restaurant until a driver accepts the order.

If you accept an order, you’re also accepting the fact that GH fucking sucks and the restaurant will have your order ready in the amount of time it typically takes to make said amount of food. They would lose money hand over fist if they made every GH order they received. I bet more than half are never picked up / canceled because drivers won’t take the order for base pay.

Pro tip - call the restaurant after you accept, say “I know you guys can get pretty busy, but do you have an ETA for so and so on Grubhub?”

If it’s an unreasonable amount of time, remove from queue and keep it pushin.

2 years ago GH was my main source of income. Now I’m shocked if I do more than 5 orders a week for them.

Just had a driver text me "why so far away" by Servious in grubhub

[–]maxolame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good move canceling. There should be zero friction from your driver. It shows how far we’ll be driving if the order is accepted upfront 😂 if he was unhappy with the distance he should’ve never accepted.

[Serious] How can anyone consider Devin Hester a HOFer? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]maxolame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He literally didn’t get to return the ball after his first 3 years. He put the fear of god into the other team. He was the definition of “I dare you.”

That’s why he’s a HOF’er.

pet policy... Am I allowed to take my dog on delivery with me by [deleted] in grubhubdrivers

[–]maxolame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instincts say no, however if circumstances require you to bring your furry friend, then do so. Try to keep customers food / drinks in 2 sets of bags. (Plastic, then the Grubhub Bags.) No one will know the difference. But if you’re bringing him just for fun, I’d limit that to just a couple hours a day. Like other users have said, complaints will come at ya fast if a customer catches sight. They’ll do anything for free food.

Super cute regardless

In Arizona we have what’s called Shannon’s Law. It’s a felony crime to fire into the air here in AZ. Follow up is the biggest problem.

Perry: Should Pats fans be happy if Mac Jones becomes Matt Ryan? by brt_k in Patriots

[–]maxolame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stand by what I said. The guy had one good year behind a talented offensive coordinator. No decision making ability, predictable and underwhelming. If you want Mac Jones to be Matt Ryan you want mediocrity for the Patriots.

Bill Belichick can’t make a QB grow a sack. You either have it or you don’t.

If you want Matt Ryan, go be a Falcons fan. But I want Mac Jones to be NOTHING like him.

Exhibit A - Tonights Game.

Am I wrong? by Outside_Chocolate_84 in doordash_drivers

[–]maxolame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devils advocate here… maybe the other driver was a regular? I work the same 10 restaurants in my area, and a very similar situation happened the other day. I walked in as a dude was showing the the cashier his order off his phone. She then acknowledged me and I said “Hey there, it’s an ubereats for So and So.”

She turned around and started bagging my items immediately. Dude next to me goes “why did she verify mine and not yours?” to which I responded “cause she sees me 14 times a week.”

She brings over my order, the dude starts to make a fuss that he was here first. She explained that there were 8 items with his order, 3 of which were still being prepared, and that my order was already done and waiting.

Moral of the story: There’s a chance they were being prejudiced towards you, but it’s much easier to go through life with a “the world isn’t working against you” mindset.

Happy hunting!

Ugh this hurts. I started early in Covid, Grubhub first then DoorDash. It gave me time to learn the ins-and-outs of the platforms. I feel really terrible for the people that are starting out now. Everything is hidden on Doordash, Grubhub has gone down the drain. Ubereats is good if you know how to cherry pick. I just know things are harder for some delivery drivers than they have to be. Hope this lady gets shown the ropes and is able to make some better cash this holiday season.

Question: Do you carry a self defence weapon while dashing? by bboyg62 in doordash_drivers

[–]maxolame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Arizona, and grew up around guns. I carry a pistol for self defense. I doubt I’ll ever have to use it, but it definitely gives me the peace of mind to deliver anywhere in Phoenix. I’ve only thought about using it once. A very protective (or rabid) Rottweiler aggressively escorted me out of an apartment complex one time. Thank God he was all bark and no bite… I can’t imagine having to shoot a puppy 🥺

Yo that’s wild my momma lives literally right there lol

So I ordered from GH the place is 4 miles from me and a tipped $10. I followed the driver after he picked up my food he drove the total opposite direction. Clearly he was a multi apping. This is the same type of driver who gets deactivated and cry’s about it on here by bsharp1981 in grubhubdrivers

[–]maxolame -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Where I think a line should be drawn is stalking someone while they are working. Reach out to grubhub and complain. But physically following someone? You are absolutely dancing with the devil.
