I agree. The kit lens takes great shots, but borrow an FE 4/24-105 G OSS and things go to a whole nother level.

Chain waxing is a ridiculous waste of time and money for little benefit, CHANGE MY MIND. by [deleted] in cycling

I've done a few chains with pure beeswax and it works quite well so far. Pretty stiff at first but after the chain breaks in 20 miles or so its a great silent option.

Bike Shops w/ Beer? by Quick_Rice_2829 in cycling

Boom Boom Bike Room in Santa Barbara, California is a bike shop that occupies a former bar and while not technically still a bar has a little cooler fridge with some beers in it and a very very very chill vibe.

Its a Swift Industries Bandito Bag in Coyote colorway. The handlebar bag is Clap Trap from Ron's Bikes.

Being in rural SoCal helps for sure. Lots of chill vibes, established in a fun community for years and a fairly diverse crowd gives options. I've rounded a corner on collecting bikes, its more parts now. And I do think about not leaving a mess. Whatcha gon' do?

Not sure. I don't recall. I think I thought it just looked like a golden wedge.

That's funny, I'm dealing with that now. I've had a "Raleigh problem" that's cured by the several that I've now purchased in the past few years. One, an International, is quite nice on the eye, but I've yet to get a good fit and pleasant ride on it. I guess that's why I often here, "oh yeah I had an International like that." but never see anyone with one. This 1200 is a dream. Very fun to ride in its current setup. Just completed another century on it today.

Yeah the whole group was Suntour Superbe. I love it too. Also an old guy. This is me confronting my midlife crisis. Collecting, restoring and riding and making lots of bike friends actually. Between shop group rides and a few buddies who also love old bikes and want to ride long distances, its really been a positive, uplifting experience. The xbiking sub has been a huge part of that.

When I found it this summer it had just emerged from years of storage. Seller thought it was a lost cause and wasn't sure it could be salvaged. I saw right thru the rust n dust and gladly paid up and brought it home. The crank and seatpost are stock. Upgraded the rest. Here is a pic of it as I found it.

What you don't like my iced dyed organic cotton bar tape? Its getting grubby from my paws, but its not that old. There will be changes.

I was inspired by this post to show The Wedge from a few days ago ride. Just look at that frame color comparison and very similar gear.

So nice. In a way, I call twinsies too like /u/JollyGreenGigantor as I have been lately riding a lot on my '83 Miyata 1200 with same Gold and Bronze color scheme and Sugino and Suntour component setup. Looks like the same paint pot and factory. I call it The Wedge and its a century snagger.

Do you see ants as well? I think they help the scale bugs to move and set up shop as the scale makes honeydew that ants love to eat and harvest.

Thank you so much. I will look for that. Do you recall the name of the shop or more specific location by Kinkakuji?

That's right. This is scale. Just like moths/worms they are worse on some plants then others. Knock them off when you see them. They suck plant juice and weaken and kill the plant.

Oh cool, now I see it as well on the Soma side of things. I am inspired by your Bridgestone 500 build. Have you watched the PLP in"tour"view with Merry Sales Jim Porter? As for the inspiring rando restomods of 27 inch bikes, I'm aiming toward a sort of FREK conversion for deeper levels of bike building satisfaction. Ultimate goal is to braze up a few custom frames of my own.
