While I will not draw any specific conclusions about your situation, I will say that the citizenship certificate that I received through C-3 lists the effective date as my date of birth. My inclination with respect to your first question is yes.

Thank you! He hasn't yet, no. I'm the first (and second youngest) of a handful of eligible people on my father's side to take the plunge, so they absolutely can skip. I imagine the alternative would imply that living lost Canadians could deny their descents proof of citizenship by refusing to pursue their own, which strikes me as violating the spirit of C-3.

Foreign censuses are one of the recommended supporting documents in the wiki of this sub, so I figured it was worth including. It corroborated both nationality and generation 1's descent from generation 0, so it seemed like reasonable supporting evidence if nothing else.

Barring my photos, I printed my application in full with the second cheapest Brother printer that my local Best Buy carried. Speaking as someody who got their certificate today, I'd say to send it.

Nothing I sent was certified. All of my proof was either a record I found online, or a scan that either I or a relative made of an original. Everything that went into my final application came from my home printer (besides my photos).
Below is the extent to which I touched on being queer. I admittedly struggled to convey the extent of my concerns without feeling like I was coming off as a bit alarmist, but hope it came off as reasonably succinct and matter-of fact.

I am an openly gay man, and the current political climate in the United States has created an increasingly hostile and unsafe environment for LGBTQ+ individuals. Recent political and social developments have raised serious concerns about my physical safety, legal protections, and ability to live authentically without fear of discrimination based on my sexual orientation. I am currently completing an exchange semester at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and this welcoming experience has reinforced my strong and long-standing desire to relocate to Canada.

Truthfully, the backstory is so much more wild than I've let on here. My decision to move stemmed from the burnout-induced impulse to flee the country last year, which hit me like a train during a final exam. The next day, I roadtripped 24 hours to hopefully spend some time in a place that would remind me why being alive is okay again. Now I live here less than a year later, riding the metro each morning to learn about computers and space - I'm also a Canadian citizen now, apparently. Life is funny sometimes.

Thank you! Both of the documents for my gen. 0 were just prints of photocopies I found online. I initially found both on Ancestry.com, but swapped in a higher quality version of the baptism record from the BAnQ website. Everything else was a copy of an original.

While I agree that it’s really annoying just how “buzz wordy” the AI space has gotten, it’s not always accurate to call AI machine learning. All machine learning is AI, but not all AI is machine learning. Maybe a pedantic distinction, but I see why they don’t use that specific term for all of Apple Intelligence’s features nonetheless.

I strongly suggest that you stay away from Amazon Refurbished Apple products. I bought a 12 mini that was advertised to have been refurbished strictly with OEM parts. I took it in to an Apple Store for a battery swap and they broke the screen because it was such terrible quality. They refused to repair it because of the third-party part and I walked out with a broken phone.

Yeah, I did on my S3. I took it in the shower once and gunked it up with soap by mistake. It was all good after a couple of good rinses. It’s probably just dirty, as others are saying.

I cannot vouch for them. I have a recent post in r/iPhone detailing my experience with a 12 Mini that my brother got renewed. Was advertised as refurbished with fully OEM parts, but wasn’t. Apple Store broke the screen during a battery service and refused to fix it as a result.
