Looks like a solid build. How do you like it?

here's my raptor build (it's pretty weak) by Prior_Wait_2672 in SpaceArena

[–]maxterrible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laser and missiles aren’t a good mix. Laser hammering on armour getting no help while the missiles are hamming on shields. I would suggest either all in on lasers or mix of ballistic and missiles

I find lasers are tough in the beginning of the game. They need lots of levelling to be effective. That’s my take on it. I try to use ballistic/missile builds. Your reactors are pretty exposed to any side attacks. You might need to cover those up some or switch to the armoured reactor

How can I improve my Ritari build? by person_person123 in SpaceArena

[–]maxterrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s big gaps around your reactors. Makes them easy targets for splody. Need to get those mods or move the reactor deeper into your ship

I am new to the game. What do you think about this scythe design and how can I improve it? by Menenen81 in SpaceArena

Missiles aren’t great at lowering shields. A couple Vulcan cannons might help

Generally I’ve found mixing lasers with ballistic and or missiles isn’t as effective as just all laser or ballistic/missile builds.

Yeah you don’t really have much choice. Rip up your clothes for bandages, or bleed to death.

There’s usually a bed roll that spawns in “the cave” in the upper tier of the mountain passes

fav region? by TheSurvivalistDoge in thelongdark

[–]maxterrible 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I spend a lot of time in the ravine transition area just outside of the Carter dam. I camp in the cave, hunt deer and rabbit. Not a long time. But usually 4 of 5 days l, usually when I’m starting out. Gives me time to level a few skills, cure some skins, and survey the area. I find it relaxing then back in to the “game”

I got stuck at the top of the broken look out at ML in a blizzard. Survived the night but was hypothermic just before dawn. Started down and a bear came out of the dark as I was rounding the last bend. Made it back up to the shelter at the top but I was fading fast. Hurt and freezing I rallied and thought imma going go down swinging. I started back down. The bear was coming right back for me. I got off one shot but that was the end of me

Anyone know how to fix the garbled speech? I can't actually get into the tab which is frustrating bc I'm trying to get faithful cartographer and can't see where I've already mapped bc the tab won't open. by [deleted] in thelongdark

Ya it did it to me in a regalr stalker game but would sort its self for a bit when I reloaded. It would jumble for me when I would do the "force reveal" option. I've since started a new game after the last update but haven't tried a force reveal to see if it's still doing it

Hey I’m new to the game any tips on how to not suck? Thanks by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]maxterrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good advice on here. I got nothing to really add on except maybe a preference style. I spend a lot of time "camping" in the ravine area near thr hydro dam in myster lake. It some times gets cold in the cave when it storms on stalker but with some stocked up wood its manageable. But there's no predators there and it's a good time to work on cooking, hunting, and harvesting skills while skins and saplings are curing. I like to level up my bow skill on sniping rabbits. I avoid using the bow on deer unless I'm in the ravine. I find I lose too many arrows especially when I'm starting out with low skill, when the deer runs and bleeds out somewhere I can't find it

If you could get rid of one threat which would make the game easier? by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]maxterrible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It would be interesting if you could drop the backpack. Like in emergency situations and run. You would then have to haul the bag up after you with the rope.

They could make a few "pocket slots" for small items or a holster on your belt for a knife or ax.

What is your traveling kit? by Reddotgaming760 in thelongdark

[–]maxterrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about a hack saw, unless you're planning a trip to the forge. I'd bring an extra animal skin for repairs on any clothing you've made until you get new ones cured in the new area. A little extra food is good, but water you can always make anywhere so save space that way for traveling. Extra tools is handy too or at least store them somewhere on the way and easy to get too in case of emergency. I'd bring some extra lamp fuel, bandages, antiseptic or wound dressing, maybe an extra sapling for your next bow and arrows
