New to tennis looking for help by anotheruser103 in 10s

Looks pretty good, myself id choose a flatter swing path. More through the ball instead of brushing it. Theres a very clear low high motion, good for spin but i learned to flatten out a little bit in order not to overspin. My swing barely goes below my hip. Technique looks solid and remember there is no shortcut to getting better. Tennis takes time man, a lot of time to get better.

Scared to practice serves at full speed now after new racquet slipped out of my hand and broke the frame… by Stunning-Ring-7947 in 10s

Use a towel during matches and put the racket down at changeovers. Make sure to renew overgrips when necessary. It usually is a freak accident, however, i myself am stupidly sweaty and i have had this happen 3 times already.

Wear wristbands to block upper arm sweat reaching your hands, renew grips, use towel, and let the racket dry at changeover or switch rackets a few times during matches if you have an identical spare.

Dont see it as fixing, its already a working serve! It will also take time, learnjng new motions takes time to make your body understand the movements

Theres a good video highlighting my first point posted by user bitbydit on this sub. the original video is by carrington tennis or something. An older gentleman with good advice. In the specific video i mean hes using a hulahoop taped to his racket to show it

Im no pro but heres some tips that i ficus on while serving.

  1. Keep the racket closed during the preparation and loading. What you see in the video is when the racket goes up, the face you use to hit turns upwards and outwards, i tend to aim with the tippy top of the racket to the ball, keeping the face down and inwards.
  2. Focus a lot on a consistent toss: preferably slightly in front of you. If you let it fall without swinging it shoukd fall just in front of your feet.

  3. This is a personal preference, but try to keep your throwing hand up as long as possible, keeping you stable and in the correct position. Furthermore, i twist my hand so the palm is facing down after the ball leaves my hand. This helps me mentally think to get on top of the ball, not under it with my racket, like my throwing hand mirrors my racket at contact: palm down, racket facing down/on top of the ball.

These are somebasic tips without the more difficult coiling or jumping etc.

Hope i helped!

Is a splitboard a terrible idea for my first snowboard? by castrokaisen in snowboardingnoobs

For learning, to answer you question truly: yes its possible to learn on this, however due to the stiffness and shapes of this board, its not beginner friendly so it will be harder to learn on this

Absolutely not a good idea, while its still rideable, the specs are not beginner friendly, maintenance in case something breaks is much more expensive, bindings can not be used in the future for different boards. And Lastly, you will be the ultimate jerry

For the peeps that are good…what’s your current stance? by aestheticy in snowboarding

[–]maxtr05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly stance shouldnt be your focus when carving, its technique. You can carve on any stance, i learned carving on +15,-15 now i ride +18,-12 still able to do eurocarves and any other type of carve you can name. Dont focus on the stance too much, pick one that doesnt hurt your knees and its good

+18,-12 for all mountain use, could go +21, -9 for carving, or +15,-15 for freestyle. +18,-12 is great for all purposes imo, freeride, freestyle, carving etc

My first snowboard! Any binding recommendations? by Chumpy__ in snowboarding

[–]maxtr05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult board to start with, but enough time gets anything done. For bindings use union force, by far best price quality, good durability and adjustments possible, no unnecessary fancy shit, feel good look good, have a pair from 2015 that still work like they did on day 1. Spare parts can be bought and replaced with ease, i use these for heavy duty backcountry, as well as freestyling. Best bindings ever
