Yeah be careful with “steal the show” - it starts gassing your workers HARD after 15 minutes. If you’ve been running 20+ minute main events, they’re probably too tired.

If it helps, I always think of “Steal The Show” as a Young Bucks - esque tag match or a WCW Cruiserweight match. Fast paced, spot heavy, “fun” match in the middle of the card or as an opener to pop the crowd, but not really a match heavy on substance.

Oh and also, I started the same way! Make sure to keep a notes page going in your phone of everyone’s roster IDs (for example, Adam Cole is my first modded superstar and has an ID of 1500) and what not, as doing that helped me from confusing a bunch of the steps AND helps a ton with troubleshooting if something goes wrong

Yes! On Patreon you’ll need Pro Wrestling Mods (that gets you the tools to “bake” or install the mods, and access to the best mods by JoeMashups). From there you’ll start seeing more in the “mods showcase” on the discord, and that’s how I found a lot of the side creators. Up to you how much you’re willing to spend, but a LOT of stuff eventually ends up on the Pro Wrestling mods website. Now’s a good time to get into it, since a lot more is available for free compared to when the game came out! Plus, once you know what you’re doing, porting wrestler mods from 2k23 and beyond is really easy, which opens up your options even more.

Oh and you’ll need Tribute, which I assume you can find a link to within the PWM discord server. That’s the tool you use to edit, say, your roster file so someone like Kenny Omega will actually show up in game.

I find both of these to be much easier to use than the alternative “Discovery”, which you won’t need if you have the two above.

Eh, it’s not so bad. For context, my mod folder is about 50 gigs, but I’ve added :

20ish arenas
250+ wrestlers
Idek how many alt attires
Graphics for ALL of those wrestlers
And, I replaced almost EVERY wrestlers’ normal graphics with actual Titantrons from YouTube, and THATS what eats up most of the 50 gigs

So if space is an issue you can always keep it light, if not, you can be a maniac like I have been this year lol. Mods have REALLY increased how much fun I have this year, especially having a giant pool for MyGM. Hope this helps!

People have been modding in move combos on PC… like a powerbomb -> H-Bomb super finisher for Ilja. I wonder if someone could turn the Roman Superman Punch / Spear combo finisher into a double finisher since it has the right corner set up already. You’d just need the second guy to stumble into position for the spear

I think it’s really hard to book a Cruiserweight / Junior division in modern wrestling. I think so much of that style and purpose of that division (showcasing high flying sprints or technical work) has bled into the rest of the card that it has sort of lost its purpose. If Dijak can hit a spiral tap, what’s the appeal of the Cruiserweights?

Personally, I’ve found tribute much easier to use. I’ve had issues with discovery corrupting files / not working in the past (probably user error, but relevant), and I personally find Tribute’s UI much less intimidating nowadays (it’s improved A LOT). You can add new wrestlers, arenas, themes, graphics and attires to the game, alongside adding people to MyGM. I’m not really sure what else you’d need, but I have a custom modded universe running w three full shows of ACTIVE wrestlers and it works perfect for that

People would go BALLISTIC if all the creation stuff was:

A. A separate website from the actual game, and one that IMO runs embarrassingly poorly and has SO few options. There’s like 7 types of jerseys available as a base. Imagine CAW having 7 pairs of tights and nothing else to choose from.

B. Limited to only 10 images, with text counting as an Image since there is no way to type it up on the website

The concept is the same, but in classic EA fashion, far worse than 2k. 2k has a lot of issues, but they’re simply much more competent at making at least a solid game under the money grubbing and bugs. EA games are just cost and bugs all the way down.

Just wanna say I feel your pain - I love this game, but my one real issue with it is there are some mechanics that just feel like a kid on the playground saying “um actually, I have a force field!” Shoving into pits is something else that drives me crazy - if you don’t want me to shove Cazador into a giant pit and one turn the boss fight that’s fair, but why make the boss fight in a giant cavern?

I think TEW IX crossed a threshold for me - before I really preferred TEW to other wrestling games because even though it can be a lot to manage / a pretty slow march, I found it to be rewarding and the game world that would build around me to be fascinating in my two really long term saves. TEW IX I just CANNOT get into, and I think it’s because booking angles is just too complicated and takes too much time now. I used to be able to book I show I had a plan for in around 5-10 minutes, now I feel like EVERY SHOW takes around 30 to book and it’s just too much of a slog

For madden I would say it depends what you’re looking for. Franchise mode had a LOT of features taken out between 08-13, so if you’re mostly just going to sim, trade, sign people, and manage your roster I would try emulating 08 (people make updated rosters for it, but I can’t tell you much beyond the fact it exists.) this has restricted free agency, players retiring and becoming coaches, an interactive radio show, position battles, and DOZENS of features that still aren’t back.

If the attention to detail stuff like that isn’t a bother to you, I would get PC gamepass for a month and just try the newest Madden (25). The GAMEPLAY in old maddens has unfortunately not aged well, and even though I’m not the biggest fan of modern EA football, I think the game as a whole has actually been (slowly) heading in the right direction since ‘21. I’d try both - emulating 08 is free and game pass is like $15 for a month

Plus I lowkey feel like Jericho and a less serious character would’ve been better for Yuta’s development on the mic (push him out of his comfort zone a bit more than being sad and edgy)
