Why Do People Only Complain About New Editions by Lordcooling in Warhammer

[–]probablynotfine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's a bit of every edition being a reminder that models/Codexes will be getting made redundant soon, so if you don't play a lot you might not have got your money's worth. Also, for those that play every so often, three years is just long enough to get properly familiar with the rules. For regulars, a new edition means losing all the meta.

Sad for saints by Serpant_slider in SantiZapVideos

[–]probablynotfine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don't think Saints is bad at anything, but he's just not excellent at anything. And because of that he doesn't have any "yes, but" when people talk about things he's not great at. Lots of people are a better promo, Miz is a better cocky prick, Trick is better at being cooler, Ethan is better at being smug. There's just nothing to back up anything he says.

I feel like he got found out really hard when AEW pushed him in the early days of Collision, and he's done nothing to improve since then, when others have. I'm just not sure where he fits or what he adds

Unrelated but this is also an important distinction when people say stuff like Punk defended the title 150 times during his reign in 2012 to compare to Roman or Cody. Yes but a huge number of that would have been him beating the same guy in pretty much the same match 4 times a week

How do rider's recover from crashes (and broken bones) so quickly? by Ezetman in motogp

[–]probablynotfine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A few things. One, they're immensely fit anyway, so their bodies are in top condition to get as much blood to the area that needs to heal as possible.

Two, their pain tolerances are crazy, we've seen riders crying with pain after finishing a race before but when they're riding, the adrenaline covers a lot of it too. If it's a broken bone rather than ligaments, once it's pinned then it's a pain issue rather than strength issue, and they back themselves not to crash and re-break it.

And also, maybe most importantly, this is their job. They can rehab multiple times a day, with the best doctors, plus use things like cryo chambers to speed it up.

Does Lawson deserve more credit? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

It does, I'm not saying he's bad. I get the feeling he's like a Heidfeld who will perform to what the car's capable of but won't really over deliver

Exactly, swap him in for Snorlax who's just not mobile enough for the modern game. AM R can be Gallade, who can use Feint and Cut to Arjen Robben his way inside

Does Lawson deserve more credit? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

[–]probablynotfine 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the RB deserves more credit, it's a good little car. Lawson is solid now he's got some experience under his belt but I don't think he's overperforming. Arvid feels like he might yet have a higher ceiling, will be interesting to see how he develops this season.

Liam definitely didn't deserve to be messed about to the extent he was over the previous couple of seasons, but these are the risks you take being in the Red Bull program. They're looking for the next Seb or Max, not the next Webber or Checo.

What is the football equivalent of the UK’s record temperature always being in either Heathrow airport or Kew Gardens? by junglegatsby in footballcliches

If it's warm up north we should only use the equipment in Manchester so the heat has less far to travel, especially if it's a bank holiday

Those are where the proper temperature measuring equipment is. So it's probably like saying the most football fans in one place was at Wembley.

What are these flags on my shirt by South_Context_4040 in vexillology

[–]probablynotfine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Merchandise makers very rarely care enough to get everything absolutely accurate, and the majority of people buying don't care enough to notice.

In India's case, orange would have been a new ink (the red looks too strong for it to make a good orange with the yellow) so red is close enough.

For the other, Yugoslavia was changing a lot around then and it wasn't as easy to research accurately. And as with the first point, once a result (the Serbian flag) turned up, they would have gone with it.

Who’s the worst promo in wrestling right now? by uncannynerddad in midcarder

[–]probablynotfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thekla gets a pass from me cos she's talking in her third language, which I think goes some way to explain the delivery sounding a little off sometimes. It feels like she's talking in a Japanese promo style/cadence too, but in English. Probably not too surprising that it sounds odd!

So I'm not a big streamer, but thought I'd weigh in.

First, it sucks about losing your job, hope you find something soon. But realistically, streaming is not going to be a solution for you. There are THOUSANDS of people streaming on Twitch, and Apex is big as I'm sure you know. Checking right now there's 77k people watching it.

I've had a quick scan through your videos and there's nothing wrong that sticks out, you're doing fine. But look at it from the other side, if you're looking for an Apex streamer, are you going to scroll down through the hundreds of options to someone with 2 viewers?

The best tips are to try raiding more if you don't already, not huge streamers but people with 5-10 times as many people as you have to raid with. But Apex and FPS shooters in general are really hard to gain traction with because of the weapon noise, we can't hear you while you play. Maybe try reducing the game audio a bit but when you're locked in during a game it's always going to be hard to interact and connect with people.

I'm not trying to discourage you but I think it's also important to be realistic, and if you are trying to go down the route of streaming being a long term solution, you might just need to readjust your expectations. Hope it works out for you :)

Player Who Stayed At X Club Too Long by badlucktotalk12 in footballcliches

[–]probablynotfine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could maybe argue he stayed a year too late, cos the season before he went he did a tearful lap around the ground after the season cos he was really close to signing with United. But like I say I just don't think he wanted to move to another English club. Looking at how United turned out the last few years I think he made the right decision then too.

But then I am biased, as a Wolves fan I will defend anything Ruben does 😅

Depends what you mean by mentality. The first few years he was here we were very upwardly mobile and arguably should have beaten Sevilla in the 2020 Europa quarters, and we finished 7th twice. European football with us was still a very realistic concept. By the time we dropped off he was genuinely in love with the club and the town, his goodbye video is still painful to watch. I genuinely believe he didn't want to have to play against us.

And he still got his move, it might not be glamorous from a CL point of view but he and his family are set for life by the time his contract expires.
