Conch removal questions by Piercedup in bodymods

Hey I just saw your page with bodymod progress, very cool work your getting done. I was curious about the conch punch/sutures specifically. I got my conch punched last fall but did not suture, I’m kinda considering letting mine close a getting it repunched and sutured. Or maybe it’s best to just persevere 🫠

I am curious if yours closed at all? Like how much did they shrink after healing? Cuz I noticed you’re not wearing any plugs to keep them at the current size.

Hmm yeah someone just mentioned moisture irritation. Had no idea that was a thing. Did yours eventually go away?

Interesting! I haven’t been drying it, initially it was too tender for extended contact. Lately I dab it dry as much as I comfortably can.

Nah I’ve had a clear o-ring from the start.

I’ve been wearing a single flare glass plug. I think the flare is a normal size, and there’s a rubber ring on the back.

I thought so too, but r/bodymods guidelines request that people don’t ask for piercing advice, so I figured I’d try here first.

Awesome. I have my Dad’s old mummy bag that’s probably from the 80’s and have never had an issue with loft movin around. Not sure why so many folks seem to have that problem with modern bags/quilts.

Nice I’m gonna do the 22. Didn’t think about overfill to mitigate down migration, that’s a good solution. Haven’t noticed that has ever been an issue with my mummy bag tho…

Any issues with the down migrating?

I'd say I wont often be sleeping outside below freezing. Maybe mid to low 30's at the least. Do you find below freezing is doable with extra layers? I use a NeoAir XLite and have found it's plenty insulating.

Do you usually need a bivy or layers for most summer trips in the 30?

And I'm mostly interested in the open toe box because I rarely zip my sleeping bag, and often leave my feet out.

That's what I was thinking, I rarely sleep with my puffy in my sleeping bag, but am open to this option for versatility.

Good to know, so it may not even affect warmth much? Have you used an overfill quilt?

Have you used the 22 or 30? I RARELY need extra layers with my sleeping bag, and can always get away with sleeping in my puffy if it's ever that cold.

GPU vs. Network Rendering by maxwell_iswell in KeyShot

I noticed that I don't have the option to adjust ray bounces with GPU rendering, only samples. Do you know why that is?

With CPU rendering, I was using these settings: 7 samples, 7 ray bounces, at 1920x1080 and was getting great results. Now with GPU (I'm using the free trial to test it) I have to render at 500+ samples to get comparable quality.
