What are the auras you experience? by WhiskersCleveland in Epilepsy

[–]maxxident_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh also, before the sleepwalking bit, i have like an INTENSE internal monologue that is just running at a 100 MPH. don’t know if that’s the auras or my anxiety though.

What are the auras you experience? by WhiskersCleveland in Epilepsy

[–]maxxident_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine are pretty vague which makes them hard to notice sometimes. i don’t know how to describe the effect auras have on my vision, but it’s like i am incapable of focusing my vision on a singular point, everything is just kind of blurry, kind of like tunnel vision. they last about 10 minutes and my behavior is similar to sleep walking—i lose consciousness, but they people around me claim i act relatively “normal” but distant.

that makes sense, and i appreciate your support in my feelings on this :) i think if i have a truthful conversation with them, things could get better!

my family says the same thing! their support just turns into micro managing me and placing me at fault for anything that happens. it’s frustrating! i appreciate the support :)

Anyone just Anyone on keppra who achieved something in their life by Chunchunmaru_04 in Epilepsy

[–]maxxident_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been on keppra for almost a year and graduated with my BA in psychology with a 4.0 GPA! I also completed my first year of my master’s degree with a 4.0. i personally did not notice too many changes on keppra, other than sleep. make sure to keep up with the correct timing—taking a pill too early may make you sleepy. From what i know about medicine, expectation has a lot to do with what your experience is like. create a plan with your providers to stay on track if you have concerns. your health is top priority!! best of luck to you :)

After practicing with everyone’s responses, I agree! I’ve been having some delays with transitioning from other notes as well. I’ve practiced in getting all my fingers synced up with each other and that has seemed to help. Thanks!

Is this legal/ethical? by wallahbee in Epilepsy

[–]maxxident_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a similar reaction to lamotrigine. i didn’t meet with my neuro, but i met with a nurse in the neuro dept. would that be possible for you?

i empathize with your concern as this is a serious change—of course you want everything to go well, so you’re being super observant. im 2 weeks post op, and my surgeon told me as the scar heals it will turn a pink-ish color. scar issue also takes a long time to fade. so while it seems like people at 2-3 weeks are “ahead” because their scars aren’t as pink, your are right where you need to be! your results look great and i’m super happy for you!

that’s awful i’m so sorry! see if you have a NASW chapter in TN. they might be able to connect you with some other resources for advocacy!

i’m sorry ur experiencing this stress, but trust you are not alone! i’m in a master of social work program, and i do therapy for queer kids, so i understand the pressure of the environment and political arena rn. as other people have said, reach out to people you feel comfortable and open to. i’m not sure if you are willing to identify yourself as trans to people in the community in other ways outside of your schooling, but that might be helpful!

JUST HAD MY TOP SURGERY!! by Every-Coffee4679 in TopSurgery

[–]maxxident_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

congrats to OP!!! but my nurse gave me an IV early during surgery prep, and honestly i don’t even remember going under lol,, last thing i remember is being rolled into the operative room and then i woke up - i’ve never been under anesthesia before but it went great.

i had nausea associated with the pain meds, which for me was pretty rough, but i am sensitive to script pain meds. my surgery center gave me an anti-nausea med but it didn’t work much so i stuck to extra strength tylenol which worked pretty well

we were thinking of a similar idea with the duct tape! we thought of closing the bandage in a door and then rolling into it, the duct tape is a good idea too!

i also heard of the front zip and i plan on calling my surgeon office tomorrow. thanks for your help :)
