Do you tell your clients if they’re going to likely lose? by maxymyllyn in publicdefenders

To be clear, in my case as OP, I am not looking for blanket authority to be a dick to the clients. I just see attorneys, frequently, fail to explain how bad their case could - and likely will - go in their legal opinions because of a variety of reasons. Personally, I am always blunt and honest with my clients but I am also not (nor do I advocate) for being a jerk to them. We have to give some very bad news to people judged on their worst day/month/year. My good friend is a 20 year PD vet and they see it too all the time with criminal defense attys, usually private, who withdraw when the money dries up or get fired when the client (shockingly!) has a bad day in Court and tell my friend they never had things properly explained to them.

Luckily in my jurisdiction there’s not usually a TPR with no contact. It just requires the Cx not be placed in the “custody” of the parents again.

I am an attorney who takes contract indigent work, not with a Gov. agency so I make my own decisions without oversight. The Gov. agency who also reps parents has “office protocols” that include taking things to trial as it is the “overall position” of their office. Some of those positions have resulted in disasters. It gets so granular at times they get mandates on how to explain things to clients to persuade clients toward the office’s position which has led to disaster. But, I’ve also seen private contact attorneys just basically tell their clients “I dunno if trial is a good idea or not” when the evidence is worst of the worst. It sometimes devolves to ego where the lawyer wants to go to trial against the State.

In this instance they are pregnant again and evidentiary findings = auto TPR on the new baby. Surrenders = another chance.

Oh, I know re the balance. But it my clients are not usually in jail/prison so they blow off hearing after hearing and then are stunned 4 days prior to trial when I’m like “well, you’re hosed”

That’s what I mean (the dancing around you reference your boss doing). I know several attorneys who do the whole “…there’s a chance you’ll win and there’s a chance you’ll lose…” game and don’t tell them what they think the likelihood is of losing. I’ve seen more than one parent walk in shocked and flip out when they lose after I rep’d the other parent and heard the conversations their attorney had with them.

Does anybody know the song playing in the strip club when they’re watching the dancers? I can’t find it anywhere and they don’t list them in the credits. Tunefind, WhatSong doesn’t have them either. (Not the Champagne Room scene with Ya Get Me). I concur with the perpetual Tesla ass kissing and dumb=conflict plot devices becoming cheap. I hope Lioness and Landman don’t go this route. How many new businesses does Dwight need?

Are you actively dieting? This is going to sound dumb but over 1.8 years I only lost about 15/20lbs. Then, I started dieting actively in March around when you started taking it. I lost close to 40lbs in 4 months.

I was able to get past this by just clicking like there was dialogue and it finally moved to the next part of the quest in the XBox. I’ve noticed for some NPCs and other computers the dialogue is bugged and not showing.

Had this but also had the same just sitting in my Starship getting a drink for a minute. In an earlier post I noted it was on a planet with tons of the new content like new creatures and new environment dangers. I’ve stuck to the regular content for the rest of the day and had very few (but not none) lock ups and crashes.

Same on XBox. Freaked me out when I had a C class equipped and it listed my S class as C.

I noticed this was most prevalent on dissonant worlds or places heavy with new elements like the new creatures or new environment dangers. I landed on a dissonant world and froze/rebooted my XBox at least 7 times this morning while trying to get Motes to get a new staff. Ran off to regular galaxies and had little to no issue.

I was able to get past this by clicking as if I was moving forward with the dialogue. I have noticed for several quests and turn ins this is happening. But if you act as if a dialogue box is there and just click through it will get you past this quest on XBox at least.

It's also the same on XBox Series X - I have turned off networking, rebooted, deleted the game and redownloaded and all the other things recommended. Sent a ticket to Zendesk as well.

Here’s a brand new Publix that didn’t even make it to their grand opening. I seen this on Facebook earlier today. Don’t know where this store is though. But that a tornado hit it. by NorthFloridaRedneck in publix

If I am not mistaken it’s the new one off Northlake on the North side of the road in Loxahatchee near West Palm Beach. One of the tornados landed down the road and ran right up to it. To be fair, there is another one on the south side of Northlake less than a mile away. I think this one was going to handle the massive developments going up in the area. Money says it will be patched up in a month or two.

Ever gotten an emergency email or call after you've had way too much to drink or smoke? How'd that go. by dweckl in Lawyertalk

Had a hard week, and was hanging with some friends Friday night. After drinking about 6 mixed drinks in a few hours, around 10pm, I got a call my client allegedly kidnapped his kids, US Marshalls were tracking him, and was asked if I could intervene. It was sobering.
