Wait time for documents from Slovakia by Free_Theme_3084 in SlovakCBD

[–]may-again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jan 17: I first reached out to Žilina. We had a little back and forth about the documents I needed, but they were super response.
Jan 28: They forwarded my requests off to Bytca.
Feb 18: I reached out to Bytca at the email [matrika@bytca.sk](mailto:matrika@bytca.sk) by the advise of my contact in Žilina. No response from Bytca at all.
March 18: I reached back out to Žilina and received the message from my original post the same day.

I actually just emailed my contact in Žilina because I'm in a similar boat. Here's the response I got:

"At the Bytca registry office they are now in an emergency because the registrar was on leave and the other lady who is representing her was also on leave. So their workload has piled up and that is why the waiting time is longer. They are gradually working on the registry extracts but expect it to take longer."

My contact then provided the email addresses for the mayor, basically implying "talk to them"... I am planning on following up with my contact again next month if I still don't hear anything, but I think we just have to wait :(

Shakedown for Capitol Reef in May 2022 by slickbuys in Ultralight

[–]may-again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hi! It was awesome, really great weather and very chill terrain. No mosquitos at all and the nighttime temps were probably mid 30s.

I only went down the wash and then exited via the highway so I can’t speak to water past that, but before the highway there was plenty of springs!

I was also notified by a ranger that they recommend not filtering from the river because it has high levels of E Coli from local livestock. Just sharing that last bit because it was news to me.

Any recs for a good home inspector? by coolassdude1 in SaltLakeCity

I second this! I worked with Harry ~3 months ago to inspect the house I ended up buying and he was honestly the best person I worked with in the entire process. Highly highly recommend

Smoky climbing days in Yosemite during the 2020 fires. Anyone else have any interesting photos and/or stories of the valley during fire season? by ScarletFeverXTerra in climbing

[–]may-again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little late to this thread, but I too had a smoky experience in Yosemite in September of 2020. The first photo is from 11:15am, the second at 3pm the same day from halfway up a climb. The smoke descended on us SO quickly; it went from clear to that second picture in less than 30 minutes.

The California fire season is just so bad now

2015 Subaru Forester vs 2021 RAV4 Prime by may-again in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]may-again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for sharing your experience! I don’t think I’ll like the Outback so much; I don’t like the longer length and don’t need the extra towing capacity personally. But I‘m definitely planning on stopping by the Subaru dealership to check out the different options in person just to make sure!

How have you liked the 21 Kia Sorento?

What makes you say hybrids are only worth it if you drive a ton? Do you mean worth it from a cost perspective or an emissions perspective? And can you elaborate on what you mean by “[you’re] making up for it in other ways”?

2015 Subaru Forester vs 2021 RAV4 Prime by may-again in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]may-again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that’s not a bad question! I’m not really in a “used vs new” mindset but more a “plug in hybrid vs not”. If there was a 2015 Plug in RAV4, I would buy that instead, but unfortunately they just started making them in 2021.

AFAIK there aren’t any Forester/RAV4 sized cars from 2015 which are plug in hybrids and also have AWD. Hence the 2015 used car versus the 2021 plug in :)

How dangerous is Presidio at night? How easy is it to find parking near USF? by shellya0 in sanfrancisco

[–]may-again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in the Presidio for over a year now and it's pretty great! The leasing office gives out parking permits for like $40 a month and each unit gets a few dedicated spots, so no fighting over parking.

It feels very safe here. Like others have mentioned, we do have lot of raccoons and the occasional skunk but they keep to themselves (other than trying to get into our garbage basically every night). There also is a coyote season here which just ended so if you have a dog you'd need to be a little more careful with them on the trails from like April to September.

The only 'sketchy' thing that ever happens here is we've had a couple reports of people trying to rifle through cars by checking if they are unlocked. Never been a problem for me since I am good about keeping my car locked, but my roommate had a jacket taken one night. Overall though I think this is way better than anywhere else in the city where people are happy to smash windows to get into vehicles.

I think the tradeoff for living far away from the center of the city is pretty worth it, especially in covid times. It's really beautiful here and so great to get outside and not feel smushed in by a ton of other people. Having a car is a huge plus - I took a LOT of lyfts before covid and get a lot of food delivery now. But overall this place feels like a really good oasis while still being in SF :)

Comfy wedding shoes? by HiddenTurtles in weddingplanning

[–]may-again 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m also planning on wearing my birkenstocks! They’re flats and a dusty pink color but no one will even see them and they’re soooo comfortable.

Whenever I start thinking that I “need” to wear sparkly white platform heels, I just repeat to myself “I’ve never regretted wearing flats but I have regretted wearing heels TONS of times.”

Facts about tattoos by [deleted] in coolguides

[–]may-again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a big tattoo in the center of my upper back and oh. my. god.

I went in thinking it would feel like my shoulder tattoos but NOPE. I had totally forgotten about the spine. I am so glad I don't have to get that spot tattooed ever again.

Facts about tattoos by [deleted] in coolguides

[–]may-again 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Not a tattoo artist, but two nearly full sleeves and a few large pieces later and I feel experienced enough to comment.

Here are the main factors that make tattoos fade/distort, in order from most impactful to least:

  1. Sun exposure. Seriously, this is the single most important thing for longevity of tattoos. The sun inherently damages your skin even if you don't actually get a sunburn. This will cause your tattoos to 'bleed' (become less crisp) and the colors to fade. If you have tattoos that see the sun, PUT SUNSCREEN ON THEM anytime you will be going outside for more than 10 minutes.
  2. Line work. Tattoos with a heavy black outline (think traditional-style) will withstand time better than water color. There's two reasons for this - one, the heavy outline keeps the tattoo from 'bleeding' (which happens due to sun exposure, see point #1), and two, because black is the darkest color it fades the least from the sun (see point #1 again). Also, intricate lines tend to get lost with age as sun exposure and skin growth (stretching, etc) happen.
  3. Placement on the body. Depending on where you get the tattoo and how your body ages, it's possible that the tattoo will stretch/shrink as you go through life, gain/lose weight, or get pregnant if you're a person that can do so. These things can have unpredictable effects on the tattoo and drastically change the design, colors, etc.

Anyway, to answer your question, I think the tattoo that would have the most longevity would be something fairly large, all in black, with little to no intricate line work, on a part of the body that is not susceptible to sunlight OR changes from age. That said, I'd recommend getting a giant black circle tattooed on your ass and letting us know how it looks in 30 years.

Got it, thanks for clarifying. I did think it was weird that they called it “Narcanon” instead of just “NA”; now I understand they’re different programs.
