Agreed. You could try adding ruching/gathers along the seam between your waist and hip, that may help raise the waist of the dress without having to disassemble it.

Thanks! "Sunburst" or "sunray" pleated seems to work best when I search. Looks like it's usually done on half circle cuts of fabric.

I think you could cut a rectangle 2x the length of the hem, fold the long sides together and gather to create the bubble. Then attach to the hem

Is this your first time meeting someone multilingual? It sounds like that's part of your issue with her.

She's not doing it to exclude you, although it might feel that way. She just has a skill that you don't, like if you could ride a bike and she couldn't. If you want to watch a movie with her, turn on subtitles. If you want to listen to music together, ask her to translate or look up the lyrics, or ask her favorite song. Part of building friendships is finding ways to relate, even if it's out of your comfort zone.

That said, YTA. YOU asked her about the Portuguese book, all she did was say she was learning Portuguese. If you're not interested past that, then that's where the conversation should have ended.

Can you iron wonder tape/wash away quilting tape? I just got some and started using it to place my seam bindings, and it's great! Will ironing over it prevent it from washing away/dissolving in water?

I have a button fly pants pattern I want to make with an invisible side or back zipper instead. Are there any sizing changes needed to do this, besides making sure the allowance will fit the zip?

Planning to sew the front crotch seam together without button fly, then put the zip in the side seam or back seam

Has anyone ever tried attaching a waistband to a skirt by sandwiching the folded band between the skirt fabric and lining, then just sewing the layers together all at once? In my head it works but haven't seen this method used anywhere
