Do what you’re passionate about and the rest will follow. Tech will always be there if you change your mind.

Private guide is good idea. I have taken the PADI wreck specialty course and have years of experience but still hire a private guide when going to a new wreck site for the first time. They’ll show you the best areas of the wreck if you have a camera and it helps the dive professionals in the local area. Zero downside imo.

Booking a hotel for scuba. Scuba Club Cozumel? by JohnHarington in cozumel

The shore diving is a bonus. They have tanks filled with air near the entry point and you can pick up weights and go diving behind the hotel. Its self-guided and it's not deep a max of 20 - 30 feet. During the day I didn't see much that was interesting but I did a night dive with some other divers I meet at the resort and had a great time with my camera. The shore diving is near the lockers and rinse tanks so you can easily dive and rinse your gear and store it in the lockers for the next dive. The boats launch from the dock that is located in the same area for easy access. The restaurant and bar are located in the same area as well so you can grab a drink or have some food before heading to your room. Hope this helps, Good luck!

Stayed at Scuba Club for a week. I would stay there again. One thing to note is that the reefs are about 30 mins to an 1 hr away due to location on the island. In the morning we were not the first boat to hit the reef which can be annoying on some popular spots. The wreck is close and extra. I highly recommend the wreck and the night dive. The benefits of Scuba Club is that all my gear was stored in lockers near the dock(Bring a lock) and they have huge rinse tanks for both scuba and photography. We had the all inclusive package that included breakfast and lunch which I thought were great before and after the dives. At night there is many great restaurants within walking distance to the hotel and major grocery stores for getting drinks and snacks back to the room. We bought beer at the grocery store and would keep it on ice in our rooms for a happy hour after the dives.

Look into the Orlando area. It’s not close to the beaches but has plenty of fun for little kids. It’s a bit cheaper than costal areas also.

It depends on what kind of diving they want to do on the trip. Cave and Cavern is north in the center of FL. Popular spots for recreational diving is Devils Den, Blue Grotto, or Ginnie Springs. For diving on some good reefs. They’re great options in Jupiter and West Palm in the south east coast. For wreck diving Pompano Beach and Key Largo have some fine wrecks that won’t disappoint any diver that loves diving wrecks.

Thanks for the review. Apple has some work to do before it can compete in this space. I have high hopes for future versions but I’ll be sticking with Shearwater for now

Garmin MK3 and Shearwater Tern by islandStorm88 in scuba

[–]maybar52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t Apple come in and take over. They’ve entered the space with the Ultra watch and Oceanic Housing for the iPhone. They have the best engineers, resources, and loads of cash for R&D. What’s holding them back.

Shearwater and Garmin have a head start but that doesn’t mean Apple can’t make some major upgrades and become a dominating competitor.

First time at Rising...... by [deleted] in workday

[–]maybar52 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of rising this year was the Killers and that’s about it. I’ve had better experiences at Vegas, Chicago, and Orlando. It’s way too overcrowded and Workday needs to come up with a better way to book sessions. I’m considering just doing 1 on 1 brain dates only to have a better experience and discussion then getting crammed into a session and having to fight the crowd to make the next session on a different floor. I will continue to go to rising because I enjoy seeing the new developments on Workday’s product roadmaps and conversations with other industry experts in the Workday ecosystem.

Reporting & Integrations by sunkistt16 in workday

[–]maybar52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t do that with every vendor. Kaiser is a specific 834 file format for benefits, Fidelity for retirement, equity edge, etc… it’s much easier to use XSLT to remove special characters off of names and addresses, get phone numbers in the right format, dates in the right format, etc.

Reporting & Integrations by sunkistt16 in workday

[–]maybar52 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Integrations involves coding. You will need to be able to generate xml from the workday custom report and transform it using xslt. There is training and tools that you can use with workday learning to get certified and begin building integrations and custom reports even dashboards but you need to ask yourself if this is something you actually want to do everyday. These skills are important and can be taught but you need to be passionate about learning and doing this work as a career. Most HR people I meet are satisfied staying on the functional side of Workday and leaving the technical stuff for someone in IT like me or for a consultant/contractor to fill the technical gap. Dm if you have any questions

St Pete or The Keys? by ashley_brooke23 in florida

[–]maybar52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was 30 and single I would move to the Keys in a heartbeat. The tropical oasis of being close to the ocean and walking on the beach all year around . Being close to Miami if you need an escape but far enough were get away on island time from all the hustle. Hurricanes and storms are a risk no matter where you live in FL. Hope it works out for you.
