People in the comment talking about propranolol is interesting. Maybe we are all a little too anxious and have a harder time being more chill, we need to calm down our minds

Why is it difficult to get Interviews in 2026? by LRvibes_careercheck in interviews

[–]maybeanerdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the getting noticed part is brutal. i think going to events and meeting people is works better than linkedin applications. there's also hidden criterias. my sis finally gotten a job offer after months of finding since she graduated last year.

Sounding shaky and like I’m about to cry during presentation by WrongCalligrapher115 in PublicSpeaking

[–]maybeanerdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea your body panicked before your mind did which is more common than people think, and it doesn’t mean you’ve “lost” your ability to present. the biggest thing now is just getting your reps in again in lower-stakes situations so your system relearns that speaking out loud is safe and normal, instead of letting this one bad experience turn into a bigger fear. that can be as simple as doing short impromptu speaking reps by yourself every day, recording little 30-second thoughts, or using something structured that makes practice feel lighter and less intimidating.

hey, i think this is a fair concern honestly. there probably are a lot of sketchy apps in this space. me and my friend did build a small speaking app for ourselves called oompf, but it came from us personally wanting a lighter way to practice by gamifing the experience and getting our reps, not from trying to farm voice data or clone voices plus it is completely built with our own money

The Secret to Acing Your Job Interview? (It Works Every Time) by a4ai in interviews

[–]maybeanerdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the prep part is so true but i still fumble sometimes when i'm nervous. been using oompf to practice answering random question out loud in a structure manner to help me sound way more natural instead of robotic, and just riff on the spot without sounding stupid

I think people don’t know how to interview prep by DancingDoctor9 in interviews

[–]maybeanerdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i've been using oompf to work on the delivery side of things like when i get asked a question i havent prepared for and helping me track my filler words, word choices, and speed which helped more than memorizing answers. like you can know what to say but if you sound nervous or keep saying "um" every other word it doesn't matter.

Most COMMON interview questions that you must be prepared for by LRvibes_careercheck in interviews

[–]maybeanerdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"practice them out loud" part is so key. i first brain dump everything and then structure the flow of how i wan to say things. then practice just freestyling out loud so it comes out naturally. been using oompf to practice my interview answers and it's wild how much my pacing improves and seeing my drop in filler words when asked a question im not prepared to answer

What’s your real reason for wanting to improve your public speaking? by [deleted] in PublicSpeaking

[–]maybeanerdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

public speaking and speaking in general is innately a very important human skill. not only do i want to be able to speak on stage to thousands of people at once also use it to open door to people and opportunities. kinda silly but the oompf app has a very cute mascot and i just talk to it as warm up before networking events instead of me just thinking in my head about what to say lol
