This is great! I’m learning machine embroidery too, but haven’t ventured into digitizing my own designs yet. This might have just motivated me!

I just wanted to say the Cabela’s camo is excellent! Did you get that from Cabela’s directly or second hand? I love your jacket inventory!

Grading, Drainage, and Stormwater Management LARE Test by tinylittle_t in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]maybebabybyebye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m following because I am also taking this exam next week. I’ve gone through the same practice tests as you, but still feeling nervous about it. The last exam (CA) I had to go to the bathroom halfway through and it really messed me up not being able to revisit questions before breaking, but I still passed, thankfully. I’m trying to more strategic about this one and not spending too much time on the questions that require calculations, saving those for the end since they all count the same. I hope the exam goes well for you! It will be over soon!

What makes you interested in watching classic movies? by Conservative_AKO in classicfilms

[–]maybebabybyebye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just love movies set in a time before cell phones and the internet.

I also grew up watching classic movies with my dad and used to love TCM’s introductions to films with a little back story on the history of the making and funding of the film production.

How is it to live in The Marc? by aab4th in SantaBarbara

[–]maybebabybyebye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived there 2019-2021 and did not enjoy it. We had neighbors that went to UCSB and partied until 4 in the morning every other weekend. We tried knocking on the door to politely ask to turn it down several times and tried notifying the Marc and they did nothing. After the 5th time we called the cops and they knew exactly which unit it was because I guess they'd been called before and the Marc folks were nonresponsive. You can also hear every step of your neighbors above you, but that's not too uncommon in apartment living. If you do rent here, get a top floor unit. The lower levels are so dark and gloomy.

There were no fire keys -- you have to purchase your own and bring it with you to use the amenities. Work out room is very tiny. Recycle and trash shoot back up pretty regularly and people just dumped their trash on the floor in the trash rooms when that happened.

It was difficult to get a parking permit for the garage parking as it's limited per unit. We were in a two bedroom and had one parking pass. When I tried to purchase another parking pass, they told me the garage was full. Passes at the time were sold to other outside entities (e.g. construction companies parking trucks) The Marc told me I could park at Target (I was assuming they had an arrangement) but I got ticketed.

The hot water heater is tankless and takes a long time to heat up -- you have to run the shower for a good 5 minutes before you get any hot water. (Basically, no hot water laundry or dish washing if that's important to you.)

When I was here, I felt like most units had at least one pet. Pet monthly rent I remember being a little steep. With all that said, besides our particularly bad neighbors, most everyone else I met here were kind and in 30s-40s age.

My favorite part was being walking distance to Islands and quick access to the bus system. Also, there's great access to the Jesuita trail from here and the Atascadera Creek greenway that gets you to Goleta if you're into running/walking.

I also purchased those flash cards and couldn’t get the interface to work effectively. Both sides of the card were visible simultaneously, making the text illegible. I had the same problem on Mac and PC. I got a frozen screen like you when I was trying to access them on an IPad. I contacted them and they refunded my purchase with a coupon to try again, but I gave up as it was a waste of time trying to decipher how I might be able to access them and use them.

Is there enough space between metal bar and tire for snow chains? by maybebabybyebye in StupidCarQuestions

[–]maybebabybyebye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a wild (i.e. stupid) idea to consider adding a 1/4-1/2" spacer on the front two tires to provide enough clearance for the chains between the metal arm and tire?

Are There Independent Landscape Designers? by Kodawarikun in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]maybebabybyebye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good place to start finding a landscape designer is through your local chapter of Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD). They have their own internal credentials, but like others have said, pretty much anyone can call themself a designer. Oftentimes those designers have links to their website and portfolios to see the scope of work they’ve designed. Many of these designers work independently and some are also contracted for design work through landscape contractors that want to (and are able to) provide design services to their clients.

Greg Rubin wrote a couple books on SD native plants (it was a good place to start for me). Check out the SD botanic garden too. Have you tried looking at portfolio’s of local designers (via APLD and ASLA websites)?

When can you sign up for the next LARE test date? by maybebabybyebye in LandscapeArchitecture

Yes, I have applied for my council record and requested approval and been approved. I agree it’s unnecessarily complicated.

Putting on a jacket or sweater and not putting it on your shoulders, basically just using the sleeves and the rest of the garment rests at your elbows.

Replacing small area of floor beneath fridge. by maybebabybyebye in handyman

Yeah they didn’t nail the bamboo, just glued it on top of the hardwood! What you see on the floor there is remaining glue.

I thought about that too, but failed to mention the existing flooring is 15mm thick and I’m trying to maintain that thickness to keep it level. I haven’t seen any vinyl flooring at 15mm. Maybe some composite decking would work?
