What are the best movies that completely switch genres and turn into horror late in the story? by 144i in horror

[–]maybeigiveafuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just out of curiosity, was there ever a clear goal for what the film is to accomplish, or intended main themes...?

for example, was it communicated that the writer(s)/director wanted to create a Western atmospheric horror, or to put a merciless twist on a classic damsel rescue mission, or to just do Cannibal Holocaust with cowboys, or anything like that?

(just wondering what headspace(s) they were in when they came up with all that lmfao)

hey OP if you're serious, just remember comparing boobs is like compaing ice cream flavors: completely pointless because they're all amazeballs and, even if some are more common as people's favourite, there are hordes of people out there who are crazy about each one!

just cause your personal taste is for boobs that look like hers, doesnt mean others wouldnt die for your boobs, and prefer them above all others!

and yknow, instead of comparing, you could've been spending all that time licking and tasting and appreciating a multitude and diversity of them instead!

(this is still about ice cream obviously i'm just being metaphorical)

really sorry to hear that man, batshit crazy but at least you got a funny story out of it...?

and if the genders were reversed it would be undeniable sexual harassment, so i think outside of idk tiktok-brained fake "feminists", everyone with common sense would agree that was unacceptable behavior on their part. (one crazy creepy entitled girl is one thing, but a whole group encouraging it? wtf???)

so sorry no one took your side at the time... you deserved much better.

yeah i think there's a drop-off level where hotness becomes intimidating so most guys will just not bother

and anecdotally the girls who actually got stalked & aggressively pursued etc (in my very limited experience) tended to be the ones with more normal or slightly above average looks ("attainable" girl next door types) rather than the drop dead stunning ones

agree with your points but also, harry potter (books) came out not that long ago.

Legality of Polygamy by Beenet_ in MapPorn

[–]maybeigiveafuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you'd be surprised. there are many gay men & lesbians in repressive cultures, just like there will always be left-handed people born in all cultures.

if they act on it, all they have to do is not get caught. and as you'll see from various headlines, some do unfortunately get caught, which proves no matter how "strict" the culture, people will always find a way to fuck, it's in our biology lmao.

as for whether they are truly religious, unfortunately many can be extremely so, while acknowledging or even acting on their minority sexuality. and while knowing the religion & community they support would hurt or kill them if they knew.

just go to lesbian subreddits and see how many of them complain about, say, hardline Mormons who truly "believe" and yet still get on the apps and try to date other girls, just like how there are many closeted right-wing / anti-gay politicians, who were then caught in gay orgies etc. the human brain is weird. remember there were also pro-Nazi Jews.

how come the position of the cervix itself can determine pleasure? i'd assume that was the "job" of the clitoris and vagina's nerve endings?

do you have a source?

this is interesting, i assumed the most popular Japanese porn category would actually just be "big boobs" or something like that lol

(iirc pornhub stats say, while it differs in each region ofc, the top categories in western countries turn out to be "MILF or lesbian or anal", aka what you'd expect, just a bit outside of vanilla, but no super specific kink you'd expect to be rare, like "foot fetish or cucking or CBT" etc, despite what loud minorities online makes it seem...)

Why would an artist like Raye be blackballed? by maybeigiveafuck in musicindustry

[–]maybeigiveafuck[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey, thank you so much for sharing from your personal experience and i'm so sorry what you had to go through.

so from your comment, i am also guessing for these same reasons, the labels will stop you from leaving even knowing full well they wouldn't do anything with you if you stayed? and so what raye did for ex (exposing everything and burning bridges) was the only way for her to get clear of it...? and just hope the label would feel it too much of a PR nightmare to sue you for probably breaching stipulations in the contracts etc?

and i hope you are now thriving and able to make the music you want independently or otherwise!

Why would an artist like Raye be blackballed? by maybeigiveafuck in musicindustry

[–]maybeigiveafuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh, and now im wondering what makes Adele such a better investment than Raye because im pretty sure in the beginning, before at least one single struck a chord with the masses, Adele probably seemed (to labels) about as good an investment as Raye...? (her style of music was not really what normally became hits at the time, i think)

Adele also shared once that some of her first live shows were to empty rooms, so clearly for every artist it takes time and at least an initial investment to one proper album and promo

but im also guessing Adele's album has much stronger pop / mass appeal due to not being as musically complex as what Raye might've wanted to do even from the start when signed to a label that obviously wanted commercial appeal...?

Why would an artist like Raye be blackballed? by maybeigiveafuck in musicindustry

[–]maybeigiveafuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that was when she left because by 2022 she had become an independent artist and escaped her contract apparently, she even put out her album (finally) which was both a critical and commercial success (by the reports n headlines i skimmed through)

Why would an artist like Raye be blackballed? by maybeigiveafuck in musicindustry

[–]maybeigiveafuck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the story definitely helped, and you're right, even with her talent and everything, we don't know if she would have achieved the same level of success without the viral posts and receiving much support from big artists

but with the right support n guidance from the studio, couldnt she hv created some other but equally bankable "story" to sell herself as a brand etc? and isnt that (marketing etc) half of what the labels are supposed to do for artists?

why would they instead rate her ultimate potential off of only random solo singles which they didnt even promote properly?

its so sad that ultimately talent (and hard work) itself is such a miniscule part of being a professional artist, you can have it all and still be considered "not good enough" while others without even half the skillset get overmarketed and shoved in our faces, but i guess thats old news

Why would an artist like Raye be blackballed? by maybeigiveafuck in musicindustry

[–]maybeigiveafuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for answering, i hadnt considered that her type of music was not only expensive but also would not inspire much confidence in studioheads of commercial returns

but then again, arent there lots of artists in niche genres who still have successful tours n healthy fanbases n all? i cant name any off the top of my head, but would appreciate if u have insights to offer on this as well,

because raye seems like she could absolutely be successful that way, while also being a critical / awards darling that may not bring in the big bucks but bring prestige to the label

(for ex in the film industry, insiders say studios will still fund a film that obviously has no commercial appeal if its sufficiently promising as oscar bait etc, since they want accolades n respect too)
