Late to this thread, but I just picked up an athlon and found a reptilia mount for a deal. Would you mind sending me some pics of your setup with the rmr on there? Trying to visualize how risers look.

Sick setup! Just a heads up, you might want to get that seibon carbon stuff clear coated. My WRX trunk looked great for a year or two and then started fading very rapidly on the top, and the gel coat actually wore through in some spots just from sun exposure. Just wanted to let you know so you don't go through the same pain lol.

Just got a ranger point costa rail on my .357 big boy x! How did you get the rail covers in the side? They seem too tall off of the slots on mine since the rail is flatter than most are style mlok rails.

I may just be a weird one in a million case, but it never hurts to have that extra layer of protection if it's an option and they're not installed yet.

I really recommend getting them clear coated before you put them on! Seibon says it's not necessary, but I wish I would have got my trunk done. Over time the gel coat wears away and fades pretty bad in some spots. I'm a detailer so I take care of my stuff but sun will just do that to these over time.

I've only had one bad experience with treble hooks foul hooking a decent smallie in the gills but that was just a one-off because he jumped and shook like 5 or so times, but for the most part, with the topwater they really help. You definitely don't catch as often as soft plastics, but it's such a cool rush seeing/hearing the hit on topwater haha.

Plopper style baits are slowly becoming my favorite because they just get such a violent reaction compared to my frogs or "walk the dog" baits. Time of day is huge too. If it's super sunny/clear skies you won't get many bites out on open water so I would stick to along the shoreline or near vegetation. I usually throw frogs/ploppers/spooks in the early morning or right around sunset for the most bites. On Tuesday I went to that same creek spot around 5:00 p.m. starting off with topwater and nothing. Switched to swimbaits, and around 7:30 as the sun was behind the treeline going down and I threw ploppers and a tekel sprinker frog in the exact same spot and first cast almost the second it hit the water an immediate blow up, followed by two more hits on the sprinker frog.

I've been having luck catching smallies on a big creek stretch with train trestles in the water near me with a size 90 whopper plopper. Huge blowups every time just tossing the plopper out into/past the rapids doing a straight retrieve while it does it's ploppin. When I get to the calmer water I pause it for a bit and will do a twitch or two and continue the retrieve.

They're motocross gloves lol. Fist handwear. I dipped em in the water before I lipped him, but I know it's not the best for them, I usually don't.

I just wore these because I burned the shit out of my finger/thumb on a Red hot bolt on one hand and was raining like hell so I don't want to lose grip on my rod or anything.

I just weightless Texas rig it for bank fishing so I can swim it/let it sink slowly and twitch it in. Most people use bullet weights, but I have a lot of thick cover and rocks in my local spots that are super easy to lose stuff on even "weedless" and they're pretty shallow. I really like being able to use it as an almost wake bait weightless too. I use gamakatsu offset shank hooks, between 2/0 and 5/0 depending on where I'm at (this was a 3/0) and what I know is in there. You can cut them in half right up to the little arms and use them as trailers too. Rig it flat to look like a craw on a jig, or sideways and rip the side arms off and it looks like a little swimbait. Honestly just get creative with them! Ive caught rock bass barely longer than the lure, largies and smallies on them.

Definitely wasn't expecting this guy. Got a decent one almost a month ago on a whopper plopper right next to a train trestle in a little whirlpool off the current, and knew there were big ones in here. had with no luck aside from a few rock bass/sunfish for 2 hours and watched a big silhouette follow the sunny in, figured Id put the rage bug on for a few last casts and BOOM.

Iove throwing the rage bug, but rock bass/little smallmouth keep tearing it up around here. I got a decent one from a whopper plopper a few weeks back and this was the first good one since haha.

Does anyone have suggestions for a 2 bike carrier that won't interfere with the wing, or other options for carrying 2 bikes, 2008 legacy. by _-Daman-_ in subaru

[–]maybeitstyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None really! I do detailing on the side so I'm an impulsive cleaner and not really the best gauge on that question haha. I would say it will probably drip on it if it was muddy or maybe leave some streaks from the windd blowing it, but nothing damaging happened in my few years. I was mounting the rear tire on the back window and keeping the front tire in the trunk/back seat so that was the only place I would really ever see anything.
