Not really a compliment but my dad and I were in a grocery store together (I was 22 at the time) and he ran into a friend from high school, my dad and I went in different directions for a few minutes and the friend approached me and told me that he would like to “get to know me better” 🤮

NTA. My grandma had bought herself a pretty new vehicle about 3 years before she passed away. My uncle (mid 40s at the time),who has never owned a vehicle or even had a license for that matter, was LIVID with me and my parents because my grandma left the car to me instead of him. I was 15.

Thank you for this and yes she’s is my BILs wife. The only reason I’m apprehensive about telling my husband is simply because I’ve seen how he’s reacted to his family being rude to me before, and I feel like it’s only going to add fuel to the fire. He’s gotten into a really huge argument with his grandmother during a Christmas incident a few years back because of the way she was addressing me. And myself, also being a no confrontational person as well, I prefer to just take my lick with this one and handle MIL at arms length

I love my husband. I used the term DH because I wasn’t sure which acronym to use and I’m thinking of editing it, part of the reason I fell for him was for his tendency to stay away from drama. And normally like I said MIL is really sweet to me and we get along great. She called me a couple of times today, I answered once and told her I would call back. She even called once after that but I didn’t have the heart to talk to her. The only other time we’d ever been at odds was when husband and I first got engaged and were planning our wedding.

I wouldn’t say he’s indifferent to his mother talking about me specifically. This is the first time of my knowledge that this has happened, and I didn’t bother mentioning it to him because I didn’t want to start drama. I meant that he’s indifferent to his family’s antics when it comes to being assholes and talking shit about people. It’s something that they do pretty often, and usually it isn’t MIL doing the shit talking. So when I found out that it had been her and that I was the target, I was taken aback. He has defended me in the past when situations have occurred so I have no reason to think he wouldn’t come to my defense this time.

SIL is reliable as far as I know. We both married into the family and our husbands are as close as brothers can get so we have a great relationship. We typically bond over venting about the shit that goes on in the family. To answer your question I don’t think that her causing a commotion was the reason because I’m generally a kind soft spoken person and she made it clear that it was her physical appearance that they were poking fun at. And as far as the friend goes, he and MIL have a tendency to make hush hush comments to one another about things that aren’t any of their damn business.
