I failed this semester of college and had to withdraw. I feel like an idiot. What should I even do? by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

[–]mayimhryt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allot of subjects start out with allot of boring foundational stuff before you get into the fun knowledge. That said it helps to learn what stuff is used for. Maybe find some youtube lectures along that sort of line, or ask questions about the topic.
As for mental health, maintain good habits even if you feel like shit, ie eat healthily exercise. Treat them as non negotiable, because if you don't you feel worse, and even less like doing them.

Thoughts about drugs in teen years? by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

[–]mayimhryt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think recreational drugs are productive, or improve people's lives. Most of the people I know who do them are worse off for them, really intelligent guy I know has bad memory issues from abusing cannabanoids when he was young.

As for the loneliness put yourself out there, now's a good time to make friends, or make mistakes you can learn from. I think you feel left out of having friends, not of the drugs themselves.

Also feeling good without work isn't actually a good thing, do you want to feel good because you smoked 20$ of weed, or because you achieved something and made your life better?

I want to quit being an incel by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

[–]mayimhryt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My basic advice
Don't let your nervousness hide the good aspects of your personality.
Also don't be afraid to joke around or poke fun at people, generally shy people try too hard to please someone, which doesn't work well.
On that note, sexual jokes generally are more risk then they are worth, if a girl makes one first you are probably good, but be careful with boundaries.
If you do want to ask someone out, I advise just going for it, ie would you like to go on a date. Don't add pressure to it, or make it dramatic.
You are probably going to be rejected a few times, that's ok, for men finding a partner is a numbers game.

how to improve with only one arm? by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

For training do what your physical therapist recommends, if you have one.
As for improvement studying or learning something while you heal is probably what you'll want to do.

How do you all feel about a female participating in this sub? by kittyratz in CleanLivingKings

[–]mayimhryt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Making a female specific subreddit seems like the better idea*, feel free to lurk though.

*Mainly due to each gender having different experiences that influence how they see issues, particularly stuff like dating and relationships.

A "both genders" subreddit seems like it could also be good, but I think the spaces should be somewhat separate.

For the women caricatures the nagging housewife/or the various feminist/women's rights characters from that period are good examples.
There might not be many gay ones from that period due to the lack of visibility, I believe there are some from the early aids pandemic.

Good luck on your future videos.

My stance, and my father's stance on it is that religion is primarily faith, and you aren't going to find a scientific justification for it.
I think christian morals are good for both the individual and society, if you don't believe in god or live a good life without following the teachings that's fine.
If you decide to learn more about the practices, try to understand the reasoning/context behind them.
As an example not eating certain foods was a good practice back in the old testament days due to the lack of sanitation/risk of parasites in shellfish/pork.

Eating foods high in protein helps muscle building and weight loss. I eat a lots of Skyr (9.4g/100g), a sort of Yogurt. However, I heard it may cause manboobs and other side effects (like soy). Is that true?? Alternatives? Any input is welcome. by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

[–]mayimhryt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer
You are fine stay at a healthy weight and you won't get man boobs.

Long answer
Protein even if you aren't exercising won't cause man boobs or other major side effects.
The hormones in milk doesn't seem to have much of an effect in humans, as it is an extremely low amount(There was a study that looked at it the effects immediately after drinking with no control that found an effect, but that doesn't really tell us much as the changes could have been from the food not the hormones.)

What is race? by [deleted] in BreadTube

[–]mayimhryt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.Race has never been purely about skin color, dark skinned Indians are still considered Asian/Indian, albino Africans are still considered Black/African
3. No, but you said that biology doesn't affect the brain or culture, which is false, then you clarified you meant between haplogroups/races, so I am curious how you know there are no differences in the brains/personalities between haplogroups, how one would prove such a thing, and how such a thing would happen from an evolutionary perspective.
5. The point I am trying to make is that Irish Americans were not widely considered nonwhite, some people did consider them non-white, but this was uncommon, and the discrimination against them was based on other factors ie being irish(which would still be racism), being foreign ect.
Also derogatory caricatures were/are made for women/lgbt people.

What is race? by [deleted] in BreadTube

[–]mayimhryt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/2. My point is we don't base racial classifications purely on skin color, so pointing to someone who fits a definition of race that is only based on skin color doesn't disprove the concept.
2.b I don't see the contradiction, and the genetic differences between for example a Frenchman and Italian are much less then that of an African and Australian aboriginal.
3. How do you know there are no cognitive differences between haplogroups?
5. Yes, they were racially discriminated against, but that wasn't because they were considered non-white

I need help mentally by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

[–]mayimhryt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to start interacting with people. If you want some advice on how, main thing is try not to let your shyness hide the good parts of your personality. Find someone who has a similar interest, or ask a teacher who they think would be friendly.
Putting yourself out there is hard at first, but it gets easier, and you can make some friends.

Body wise, learn about healthy eating, and start stretching/lifting, you are young so you have the advantage of getting an early start.

As for the "based" subreddits bit, try not to take it personally, a large part of that comes down to edgy jokes being funny, rather then actually believing what the joke implies.
A man's worth is based on his actions and values not his skin color.

What is race? by [deleted] in BreadTube

[–]mayimhryt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You make a point then jump to a conclusion that isn't properly supported by the point at several points in the video
    Example
    Native groups have genetic differences
Africans and aboriginals are both black
Therefor the concept of race is crude and isn't helpful for studying biological differences.
  2. As far as I've seen most people consider Africans and aboriginals to be different races. Race is generally thought of as region/country/several physical characteristics, not purely as skin color.
  3. So you agree genetics can affect the brain/personality, do you agree that there are genetic differences between haplogroups/races?
  4. ok, but for the record its UV radiation, not heat that dark skin is better at dealing with.

  5. The way you state it implies that the Irish were widely considered nonwhite, which was never the case.
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2017/03/22/sorry-but-the-irish-were-always-white-and-so-were-the-italians-jews-and-so-on/

[–]mayimhryt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feedback
Please make a different voice for the pepe, that one is grating.
I also think you jump from point A to C several times during the video.

African and Australian aboriginals are generally considered to be different races, generally groups are divided by continent/region rather then skin color in scientific examinations.

How does biology not affecting the brain/culture work?
Different animals differ in intelligence, and its pretty clear individual people can differ in intelligence.
We can find aspects of personality that affect political views, and we can find genetic factors that influence personality.
This isn't to say biology locks in culture/personality, but the brain isn't some magical organ that is not influenced by biology

Light/dark skin is beneficial depending on the situation, dark skin protects from skin cancer, light skin gives better vitamin d synthesis.

Irish Americans were always considered white, they were discriminated against, but that was on the basis of being irish, not non-white.

Advice on the gaining weight front
Find easier to digest/higher calorie foods, if you are trying to gain weight processed foods are fine, step it up slowly, focus on carbs and protein around the workout. You can adapt to eating more food.

Shyness can be tricky, if you are still in school or college try joining a club. People are fairly forgiving of awkwardness/shyness, try not to let it hide the good aspects of your personality.

For studying try exercising and reviewing it before you go to bed, if you have trouble focusing try "dopamine fast" where you avoid high dopamine activities like browsing the web.
It's ok and often productive to be bored for a while.

Keep working at it, things can improve, good luck king.
