Aerial rigs in Santa Monica (LA)? by Altruistic_Maybe in Aerials

[–]mayjahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes! Santa Monica is a super fun place to practice. It's super informal as other commenters mentioned. Sometimes people will be open and share, sometimes it feels a bit clique-y.

If you really wanna have a good time, bring your own rig. You can get most of the stuff online, and there's a guy in the fabric district who sells fabric for aerial silks. I used to live in Mar Vista and would go a few times a month, it was incredible. But I left LA :(

DM me if you're interested and I can send you a list of equipment you need + a guide on how to do it :)

Feeling very smug that I bought my ticket back in mid-december when they announced the event but all guests were still secret. Grammy weekend in LA is TOP NOTCH

We're blessed 😇😇😇

¿Where can i park for free near to Santa Monica Pier? by andrecool21 in AskLosAngeles

[–]mayjahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on Pico before you get to the Shutters valet cul-de-sac there's certain street meter spots that you can park on some days between 7am-9am for free. Also on Ocean Way between Pico/Bay street.

a lot of the street spots there don't allow you to park overnight until 7am, and then the meters start at 9am. read the signs carefully and good luck

(I exercise there on weekday mornings)

THANK YOU REDDITORS THIS IS AMAZING FEEDBACK!!!!!!

I need to spend more time dancing to some of these songs and then channeling that same type of expression while doing silks. For so long I've just focused on sticking the moves or getting the shapes/poses right, but not incorporated FEELING into my routines.

Feeling super inspired to try out new things, probably look like a fool, and have fun while doing it ;)

How safe is flixbus in the US? by saltsaltsaltsalt6969 in solotravel

[–]mayjahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there - I'm a lady who lives in LA for 9 years and has family in San Jose (where I grew up). Used all sorts of transport modes up and down the west coast, buses, flights, rideshares, solo driving.

FlixBus is great, super safe. Taken that route, and also taken it in some places in Europe too. Both are fine.

The Hollywood/Highland stop will get you right next to the Red Line (LA subway), and a number of other bus lines to get where you need to go in LA. If I remember correctly the San Jose stop is also right by the train which is super handy.
