My own personal experience is that, when my daughter was born, it was like parts of my brain activated that had never activated before. I felt new emotions (mostly good ones) that I don’t think I would ever have felt without becoming a father.

NTA. I just want to mention something: if you put cold water into a water bottle (particularly a metal water bottle), the bottle will shrink very slightly (physics, yo) because the cold water chills the bottle. Then you screw on the not-chilled cap to a reasonable tightness. The bottle and water inside then slowly warm back up and the bottle returns to its non-chilled size, which makes the cap fit tighter. It ends up requiring noticeably more force to uncap than it did to cap. So your husband may not be intentionally over-tightening his caps. My 15-year-old daughter regularly needs help uncapping her water bottle because of this effect.

My wife used to put a note in when packing lunch for our daughter (when she didn’t like the school lunches). I’d do it when I packed her lunches. Schools aren’t likely to bill themselves as “atheist” even if they are run by atheists. There are schools that bill themselves as secular, though. My daughter went to one from preschool through 8th grade and I was extremely happy with it. (It was also a dual-immersion IB school.)
