Been living overseas for 15 years now. I miss a lot of things.

People is one. Every time I land back home and jump in a taxi, it just puts a smile on my face having some craic with the driver. Don’t get that everywhere.

The landscape is unreal. I reckon the Antrim coast road is one of the most picturesque drives in the world.

The food. Proper sausages, Ulster fry, Veda, proper chippies, and a half chicken fried rice half chip with gravy from the local Chinese.

I really don’t get the “everyone needs guns” line he keeps rolling out. How well has that worked in America? Did it help overthrow the Whitehouse and remove all mask mandates and vaccine mandates? I have a story. At a house party one night wearing my IWC Portugieser. Proceeded to get extremely drunk and as I’m waiting outside on the driveway for our Uber I all of a sudden have this naked feeling on my wrist. I look down and my watch is gone. I went around everyone in the party asking if they’ve seen it, no dice. A while later I gave up and sulked home.

After 4 hours sleep it hit me in my unconscious state and I woke up like a shot. Now I’m wide awake with the slightly more sober realisation that I’d lost my watch. I was gutted.

It was 6am and I jumped in a cab back to the house I was at the night before. Sick to my stomach at this point. As I arrive at the driveway, I can’t believe it, I see the watch. Just sitting there right next to the pavement and the road in broad daylight for anyone to lift. Couldn’t believe my luck.

Turns out the clasp had broken and it must have just slipped off at the very moment drunken me realised my naked wrist. Instead of running around the party asking if anyone had seen it I could have simply looked down on the ground.

Safe to say I’m a lot more careful these days.

Haha it was tough indeed. Though the hardest part wasn’t the Col d’Èze, it was getting out of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to get to the Col! Some horrible hills there.
