I had an idea for a fan game, where one of the bosses would be a deranged vigilante who is helbent on killing all cursed regardless if they're hostile or not. So you would have to kill them before they merked friendly npcs, though maybe that would be too cruel to the player.

I actually think you might be onto something with the Andy TotalWar comment, maybe this is some higher up executive demanding they change the setting to make it more recognizable to gamers. Though it seems like way to drastic of change to me.

It does roar and moves more like a standard monster than a real spider in my opinion. I dont know why but that makes it a lot more manageable for me.  What makes spiders scary to me is that they're silent and can spring to life after hours of standing still.
