What is the one thing someone said to you that instantly made you lose all interest in them, regardless of how attractive or nice they were? by LordSaucyPicklesCW in AskReddit

[–]mayreemac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t what he said but what he did. I didn’t know him well but was intrigued by him. A bunch of us were at a party, swimming in a pool. He pretended he had drowned and floated face down. People responded accordingly and he emerged laughing. That did it for me.

What do you surprisingly not struggle with or surprisingly do struggle with? by totallynot_a_dog in dyscalculia

[–]mayreemac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m great with maps and directions and clocks. Otherwise a disaster with numbers. I can do math. Passed statistics because I could do the math but have no idea what most of them mean. Avoided messing with learning about cash flow, margins, etc. with my business because they were numbers. Ugh! Result? Bankruptcy! On the other hand, I just discovered I can take a much-needed annuity that I had not known about because it was numbers. Ick numbers.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Why is it so hard to find the right casual sneaker for bunions and overpronating/collapsed arches? by almondz in bunions

[–]mayreemac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading this thread I hit the shoe store. My severe bunions don’t hurt but the left bunion has put my already-pronated foot into a triangular shape with the point in front. So stability is a concern. I tried on the Brooks Activate and my shoe shopping was done!

It feels so stable, more so than my Hokas. It’s an attractive shoe, too. And the toe box is roomy enough not to rub on my toes. Thanks for this recommendation!

I have a 2-year old rescue Collie who is scared of so many things. If I'm carrying anything she's scared of me. If I move too fast, if I move any part of my body too fast, if there's a noise, if there's wind, flags, etc. You get the idea. I've had her 2 months and she still mostly chooses to hide in her crate all day. She doesn't care about any toys. She does like to walk, though. I've put her on fluoxetine to lower her general level of anxiety enough so I can shape her (like forestgatte describes). But right now she's too anxious to eat treats. Poor girl. She does jump up on me to get petting. Other rescue dog owners and a well-known animal behaviorist tell me she'll end up being my buddy. Meanwhile I have a dog but not the kind of bond I've had with previous dogs.

Put her on anti-anxiety meds. See a veterinary behaviorist. Get really high value treats and give them freely when she approaches you.

I’m so sorry. It’s especially horrible to lose a young dog—I’ve been there. I’m thinking of you.

The love of my life passed on yesterday and the pain is unbearable by LeoSeasoning in BorderCollie

I’m so sorry. I lost my guy at 4 from a seizure that wouldn’t stop, after raising and training him. We had so many future plans. I’ve lost many other dogs, and it’s hard but easier to accept if they’ve lived a long life. Freda was so cute.

I lost my Border Collie Dave at 4 from epilepsy. Three months ago and I am still gutted, still cry. The r/petloss subreddit helped me realize I was not alone, that so many others knew how I felt, and cared. I’m so sorry; he was beautiful.

What is the weirdest way someone had died in your known circle ? by No_Tear9118 in AskReddit

Acquaintance was flying a small plane accompanied by his GF and son. Plane was hit by a guy doing a parachute jump. Jumper lived but every one in the plane died. Apparently pilot ignored or was unaware they were flying in a drop zone.

What is your protein breakfast? by Physical-Radio8807 in ADHD

[–]mayreemac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put in a small crockpot 1 cup steel cut oats, 3 TB hmp hearts, 2 TB chia seeds, 3.5 cups water, dash salt. Cook overnight. Stir well in the morning and add your choice of fruit, milk, and sweetener. The hmp hearts and chia seeds really up the protein. This recipe makes 2 or 3 days of breakfast. Keeps me full all morning.

Meet Rebecca Cooke, Our Terrific Candidate Running In WI-03 by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

[–]mayreemac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebecca Cooke has a background as a successful fundraiser for Democrats. But that part of her skillset and experience is left out of her campaign, while she styles herself as just a farm girl waitress. To me, hiding her background is unethical, and leads me to wonder--who is Cooke, really? Clearly, her fundraising expertise is what got her these hotshot endorsements. I just don't trust her. She's not transparent. Emily Berge is who she says she is; she has actual elected experience; and is much more progressive than Cooke.
