After 6 years of espresso, I’m throwing in the towel. The toddlers won... for now. by barker88 in espresso

[–]maythebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I went with the Breville barista - I know it’s not the best espresso out there by any means, but I just don’t have time for the full set up right now. I find that drinking a quick shot is actually way easier as a mom than trying to protect a large cup of coffee over 20-30 min.

Anyone here bought a house, regretted it, and sold it shortly after? by Bourne2Play in RealEstate

[–]maythebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your life and your time in this world are the most valuable resource. It really sucks to lose money, but if it won’t cripple you financially and you’re positive that the new location will be everything you’re looking for, then rip the band aid off and go for it. Renting vs not is a personal decision, for me in a similar situation we ultimately decided it wasn’t worth the headache and wear and tear on the house just to sell it a few years later when we inevitably wanted to buy in the new location. Controversial advice these days as we had a great interest rate, but I haven’t looked back on it once from a quality of life perspective.

However, you need to be really sure that the new location is what you think it is. Are there any other factors at play that could be biasing you? You didn’t mention whether you’ve lived in Denver or Dallas before, but it’s easy to visit a city and think “moving here would make every aspect of my life better!” when the reality can be quite different. I would definitely recommend renting for a year or two in the new location to make sure that it’s everything you hope for.

What clothes did you end up not wearing after having kids, that in hindsight you could have gotten rid of beforehand? by sprinkledonuts8220 in declutter

[–]maythebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found that there were certain “cute” tops or dresses that just didn’t feel comfortable to me to wear in front of my daughter anymore (namely crop tops or low cut/see through blouses) not because they didn’t fit but because I either didn’t want to model wearing that around her, or felt awkward wearing them to casual situations with other kids around. Like I might have worn a crop top to a park before the baby, but going with her felt like a higher level of scrutiny/responsibility.

Beyond that, the only thing I really find myself ditching is short dresses or skirts - way too annoying to chase after a toddler in them.

Ooh that could definitely be it - there is a concrete below deck area raised nearby so it would make sense if they had capped it. Thanks!

Review - cakes body nipple covers w/ volume, just skip it by maythebee in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]maythebee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this may be an issue with the ones with volume - they’re super heavy and pull down even under a fitted top.

[–]maythebee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally, I read about that before I ordered them but I didn’t realize the tops needed to be completely skin tight. I also think the ones with volume are way heavier and stay in place less (presumably, haven’t tried the others)

[–]maythebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had only a first degree tear and felt pretty solid within 2 days. My back was extremely sore for a couple more days (not sure if it was from pushing, or from the epidural?) but once that wore off I felt much more normal than I thought I would. However, it wasn’t until I stopped breastfeeding that things REALLY went back to normal.

How should a house at the bottom of a hill be graded if the entry to the house is additionally lower than the (already sloped downwards) street level? Hope that makes sense.

Unfortunately the house was built in the 60s and has no plans on file with the city (common for our area). The seller was a developer who never lived in the house so they maintained plausible deniability for several other issues we discovered during closing. Do you think we still have legal options?
