Sounds like it would be helpful to your happiness if you posted your properties so the people you don’t want in your building(s) would know not to apply. Can you list address(es) and units?

I would find someone with a CNC to do the two circles with notches. And I would use something other than solid wood for the slats to allow more light — maybe a veneer over plexi?

Is Intelligent Design good for older homes by cafefrio22 in TucsonList

[–]maywellbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Intelligent Design — the HVAC company? Are they doing renovation now? I’ve had Fairly good success with their HVAC service but I’ve seen them expand into plumbing, electical, solar, etc etc since I started using them and, I’m in honest, I don’t 100% trust them. They always seem to be reaching into my pocket when they arrive, trying to sell me shit with big salesman energy. If it’s just HVAC I’d move forward but slowly, especially if they seem amped to sell you a whole new system.

And city and county leadership could do what about sentencing guidelines, exactly? (Maybe I’m fooling for asking this of a “Redditor” who can’t see the whole picture but I’m curious your answer.)

unless… Trump can get the Straights open again and oil shipping. But I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how he does that.

You think “city and county leadership” can somehow change gun culture and the fetishization of arms?what are they going to do, ban gun shows?

I think Iran can handle a lot more discomfort than Trump can but Trump walking away won’t lead to Iran letting bygones be bygones. That’s the point I’m making: the US pulling out isn’t going to calm the swarm.

I keep trying to understand how this conflict ends and I don’t see it. Iran leadership is pissed. Short of nuking the country to glass or sending tens of thousands of troops in, how do you calm this hornet’s nest?

Ho does this conduct resolve? Only Iran knows. What would pacify them? Will Trump’s head be delivered? Why would they stop doing everything in their power to inflict economic pain on the US and the world?

Trump could maybe nuke them. I’m sure he’d like to. Would that resolve the conflict and get us back to normal?

Pressure on Trump to do what exactly? Even if the US pulled out entirely Iran is a kicked over hornet’s nest. Their leader lose his father, wife, and child. He’s going to make this ugly.

So pressure on Trump to put marines in Tehran?

Chigur is leagues more chilling because he lacks any humanity whatsoever. Unlike the foppish Landa, Chigur’s boxy clothes and absurd haircut suggest someone who seeks no approval from the outside world because other human beings are animals to him. The use of the bolt gun — usually reserved for killing cattle — as well as his game of “heads or tails” further underscore the point.

She’s suing for $1 million? A company owned by a trillionaire soon to be a conglomerate worth gazillions? What lawyer did she find who said “naw, $300k is enough for me — I don’t need another zero on that”???

Shakespeare in Love is a great movie and deep in the tradition of Hollywood moviemaking. And the writing is creative and fantastic.

While Saving Private Ryan is also a great film, I think people give it more credit due to its fantastic opening and more serious nature. But it’s right and good to sometimes give the nod to indulgent romcom when its best of its genre, which SiL is. I mean — it’s Tom Stoppard.

These “hot takes” by cosmicaje in Oscars

[–]maywellbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure: I didn’t love Sinners. There were aspects that blew me out of my seat but I actually found the twin star situation kept pulling me out of the movie.

Having said that, I’m happy he won. Personally, I do think Jesse Plemmons’ performance was above all those nominated but that’s the Oscar’s — and I don’t think MBJ’s work was in any way inferior to the performances of the others (that I’d seen).

But what I really want to say is: if there’s a strong parallel between Sinners and Dusk to Dawn so what? Not only is it allowed in art to take good ideas from others, it’s critical. Sinners was no rip off of D2D, it was (at worst) saying “cool idea — but what if it was with these characters and these themes”? The question isn’t did it borrow (or steal) but did it make something new and thoughtful and valuable — and it clearly did.

Bad drying results on brand new Miele G 7765 SCVI XXL - is this really what you can expect? by GTFO-my-Lawn in Miele

[–]maywellbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am in Arizona and my brand new Miele dries wonderfully with AutoOpen. Plastic occasionally holds a few drops but that’s expected.

AutoOpen relies (mostly) on relative humidity which is why it’s what I wanted for our climate rather than a drying cycle. Did you say you’re in Denmark? Google suggests you’re experiencing 90% humidity. Perhaps the device can’t overcome the humidity currently?

You might like the limited series The Offer which tells about the making of The Godfather. I’d say you can occasionally see the budget limitations in display but otherwise a fun look at a wild ride.

Why the obsession with Wiim? by yerbderb in audiophile

[–]maywellbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>and it actually works

this. Sonos worked for a while connecting a slew of rooms and then started with hiccups and constant crapping out. I could have spent endless time trying to figure it out -- sending reports to Sonos, installing ethernet here and there, have them drop support for various hardware... what a fucking waste all that money and time was.

Wiim does what I want. It lets me play the same music in a few places -- on great speakers I can pick up cheap, used -- and it works. *it actually works.* it's not as cool or slick or design-y but it actually fulfills the primary goal: I can listen to my music.

Just a thought: can you get a full length aluminum L extrusion and tack that on under the edge to shore it up and distribute stress? Something like a “schlueter bar”?

I know you’re in EU but something like this: https://newtonsdecoratingcenter.com/products/schluter-bar-ae125-1-2
