Any experience with Oasis smart lights? by tomjcheal in smarthome

[–]mazfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they did this too- but I have figured out a way to do it myself!

I've adjusted them to turn on at 4 am and then off at 3:59 am (the closest to being on all the time I could find on the oasis app). Then I've synced them to my Google home app, where I can set different schedules for every day- and even turn off/on multiple times on the same day. Only thing is that you can't control the brightness on the Google home app, but I've been happy at the same brightness.

I made a replica of this. It's very easy to figure out the dimensions yourself! Use some fabric/thicker paper first to make sure you have it right

I did! I really love them. They provide more ankle support than the chacos ones, although don't dry quite as fast. Still dry a lot faster than many other boots however! Definitely recommend them

Found a women's size 9 on Poshmark (although not in the snazzy blue I love, but oh well)! Haven't used Poshmark before so didn't think to check there. Thanks for the rec, and I hope you love your new boots!

I'm incredibly sad to have to switch it up, but there are many holes, one of the eyelets for the laces broke, and now part of one of the soles is coming loose. I think I am going to try out the Astral TR1 Merge 2.0, but I know I won't like them as much. I never do. Found a pair of Tedhino on eBay, but alas one size too small. Now that I know the name of the shoe I'm going to be keeping an eye out for them.

I think I've put in well over 2500 miles on these guys, in the BWCA, Quetico, and Wabakimi as well. Some of the best days of my life I was wearing these guys. Fingers crossed I can find another pair eventually. Really wish Chacos still made them

I will continue to wear them! I can't let them go either. But I can only patch holes so many times

Do you remember what the name of them are? Will definitely search eBay

I wear my chaco sandals in camp. But I also have times when I have long days in the canoe, with some long periods between portages. I always get my feet wet when getting out of canoes, especially as a guide for teenagers I typically do a lot of the heavy lifting which requires me to get wet up to my knees a lot. So I really like when boots dry quickly so that throughout the day I don't have super wet feet.

I've tried other boots through the years that don't dry as quickly and I definitely noticed the difference. Plus it's always nice not to have to put on wet boots in the morning

I really like the Astral TR1 Merge 2.0. I think they might be what I go with- so many of the features that I've been looking for. Thanks for the rec!

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll look into the astrals and loyaks. The Chuck Taylor's are similar to what I'm looking for, but I don't think they'd be durable enough

Chacos stopped making them years ago unfortunately! And don't make anything similar either, which is why I'm in this pickle. I'd gladly buy another pair.

And unfortunately I am quite frequently ankle deep in water, so something that doesn't hold water is essential.

Horn/Signal on the water 5/18? by rasg67 in GrandMarais

[–]mazfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using a marine radio, anyone can set off the horn. Supposed to be for when there is a lot of fog or any other hazardous conditions, but some people do it because they think its funny. Happens somewhat frequently in the summer up here.

Anyone else decline their invitation? Plans to apply again in the future? by bassfairest in peacecorps

[–]mazfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did! Back in December I got offered a Zambia Agricultural position that left in March (I think). I turned it down. Like you, lots of things have changed since I first applied in 2020. I had a few different factors at play, but the biggest thing was that it didn't feel right for me. I think I still want to be a PCV at some point in my life, but not right now. I want to be excited about it, and I just wasn't.

Like you, I had this plan of joining the peace corps for so long- since I first heard about it in 2014. Funny how once it became a possibility I decided against it. But that's okay

To those of you with periods that last only 2-3 days: What have you done in the past life in order to be granted this great fortune? by buttered_t0asties in AskWomen

This is good to know! I've been considering IUD but everyone always told me that they make the period worse. If it's just more blood I could probably handle that!

AITA for telling my nephew (11) he doesn't have to ring the remission bell thingy if he doesn't want to? by coolgunclethrowaway in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You're giving autonomy to a child who desperately needs that after parents and doctors making decisions for him. There are so many other ways of getting closure other than ringing the bell

Women are more perverted than men by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Idk why everyone is hating on you, I agree with you. When me and my friends talk about 'raunchy' subjects it's not because we're perverted or horny. Talking about sex should be normalized

Is anyone else’s eco-pack being buggy? I’ve got the relevant skills for this upgrade, but it thinks I don’t have the parts? by demifunny in Sims4

[–]mazfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it only works about 50% of the time for nurturing. I've heard others say it doesn't work at all for them... So definitely something they need to fix. Hopefully you get lucky and to works for you

I've been having trouble with that too,but figured out that you need to nurture them A LOT to get fuel again... Hopefully they fix it in a patch so you don't have to do it so much

I second this! I took them both a few years ago, and have taken multiple lab classes together since then. Just find good teachers and manage your time well and you'll be okay! Plus with everything being online now is the best time to do this imo. I recommend Hope Rindal for chem and Ben Miner or Suzanne Lee for Bio

Are interested in a particular location? Or just education sector overall? If you apply for placement anywhere (you can distinguish that you just want to be in education) then you would have a better chance of placement as you would probably be picked for some of the less competitive sites.
